Definite shooter there Backwoods Savage, looks like he may have a split G-2 on the R and those brows tines are sweet-lots of character in that one-Seen him before or he just show up looking for love? Rut pretty much in full swing here. Course I have to set out the bow season with the shoulder but our rifle opens a week from tomorrow and we're supposed to get a real good cold snap...Good luck in your pursuits my friend.
Actually, rather than a split on the G-2 there is just an extra point a few inches down from the top. It just doesn't show well in that particular picture.
Its good that you are seeing him on his feet during the daylight. Once the guns start making noise he's going to go nocturnal. My BIL stuck a brute of a deer last night. 13 pointer, probably mid 150's. He was shot mid-afternoon.
Yup, that is what I'm figuring too. This may be the buck a neighbor saw in mid-December last year. Several have seen him this fall though.
The buck my BIL shot yesterday was a stranger...never seen before. You could tell he had dropped quite a bit of weight and had 0 food in his stomach when he field dressed him. They're on their feet looking for love...probably covering a big area, around here anyway.
I took wed-fri off last week to hunt and has a great three days but no shooters. All young bucks chasing. Then i check my camera when I got in this afternoon for a quick hunt. Shoulda been there this morning . Hopefully my luck will change this weekend in NY.
Not a trail camera but a buck i just had come past me. Sorry for quality but a cell phone pic of him about 50 yards away. Grunted him to me from aboug 200 yards away. Came in like he was on a rope. Was a good 2.5 year old maybe 3.5.
Tried hard to get this guy in front of my son over the past two weeks but no luck. will try again in Muzzy season.
This is the one Bill knocked the end off of the left main beam. Not a great pic but all I got after a bear decided to rearrange and reposition my camera. I put a stand up half way down Jupiter for him. Across from the boulder. Had this guy hanging around too. Same place where he saw the moose. Likely this one but there were a few hanging around.
Nice! Sounds like you 2 had a great time. Made the mistake this morning and called Old Fat Brad and couldn't get off the phone from him. He said he had a great time also.
