Can see why you fell for her... (took us all of a few minutes)... and, I'm sure she's more than impressed with how you're transforming your outdoor area. Thanks for posting the pics.

Very impressive. Should be a happy place to relax in and maybe have some company over. Did you make sure the cinder block wall is coated with something to keep it from sucking up moisture from the dirt in the garden?

Yes, it has enough tar on the original grade to keep the moisture out....

Finally got a break in the weather today and got the last of the flowerbed stones laid. I'm very happy with it, and she's happy too, so I guess that is a win/win situation! Still have several loads of dirt to haul in, but it's just a heap of mud at the diet pile so that's gonna have to wait til it drains and dries some....

Next spring, the entire rear foundation will receive natural stone veneer to match the walls and the rest of the house.....I can't wait to do that job! Also, the existing sidewalk and steps will be getting an overlay that matches the stamped brick sidewalk.

Thanks, dear! It's coming along. BTW, I got you some video footage of my storm ditch yesterday during the torrential rain we received, I'll try and get it uploaded.....

Wait til the fireplace/pizza oven is done.......because that will be happening out there quite often!

Folks, it's been a very long while since I've posted on this thread. I'm sorry for that.

I've been ridiculously busy, and the endless rain we've had here in central PA has kept the work at a near-total halt. But we have advanced the project some, even with the constant setbacks, and my vision is slowly coming into fruition...

A panoramic of the patio, with the gigantic footer hole being dug.
    20180606_170613.jpg

    20180606_170516.jpg

We went TOTAL overkill on the footer, dug it down 38" deep.
    20180606_170447.jpg

Used 1/2" rebar throughout, all tied together. I poured the footer solid, the weight of this pizza oven/fireplace combo will be high, I don't want it moving at all over the years....

    20180607_101851.jpg

The footer is in, ready for the block skeleton....
    20180607_163320.jpg

    20180607_163258.jpg

Here I tapered the dirt bank where the main wall of the fireplace/counter area will be located. I will later put in some fabric, perforated pipe and stone here when I backfill it after the walls are up,
    20180807_153630.jpg

    Stay tuned, more to come!!
