It's six days out but I just saw this on NOAA's site, it will be interesting to see if this shifts north.

A strong storm system will move through the central Great Lakes next
weekend. In the wake of its powerful cold front, wind gusts could
exceed 60 mph. The strongest winds are expected late Saturday and
Saturday night, and are most likely in a corridor from Lake Erie and
the Niagara Frontier to Rochester and also northeast of Lake Ontario
    in the Thousand Islands region.

Ah,.........lets just leave that down along the seaway area thanks. Supposedly, my new tractor and snow blower are supposed to be in this week although I may not get it until next week. Really do not want to get stuck with my pants down around my ankles weather-wise. Our long-range forecast up here isn't showing anything like that YET, but as they say up here, if you don't like the weather here in the valley, give it an hour it'll change.

I absolutely despise Nov and Dec.
Those big temp swings over warm lake waters with the right wind direction can really punish the belt. Once we get into January and the lake temp drops things are a little easier.
Glad I'm almost done putting things away for the winter .

    How have you been, Zap?

I was up your way a few weeks back, but it was a tight schedule. How far West are you from Chazy/Champlain?

Let's hope those high winds stay South of us! But I'll make sure I have plenty of gas for the generator this week with winter temps settling in. Looks like it will be fairly warm Saturday and Sunday.

As it stands for me now, Sat is only 30mph wind with snow.

But, with the wind form the WNW....well....lets just say the snow could not know when to quit?

I hope you are wrong Zap but this is the time of year for strong winds with strong cold fronts. So far it doesn't look too bad for us even with temperatures. But they will change the forecast at least 10 times before the weekend so we'll see.

Been watching this since last week via ilsnow.
I want more frost in the ground before we get dumped on. It will help lock up any water holes or wet spots on the trails! It helps the base last longer too through any warm weather.

If it's Chazy NY, it's about 45 minutes from here.

Now the forecast for Sat has been downgraded. Winds will be half speed of what was predicted this morning and snow has been reduced to 50% chance.

    Good.

That's what I see for deer hunting opening weekend in the northwoods of Wisconsin. I removed 1 section of my tree stand ladder to lower it 2.5', and it's way more solid now. Granted I'm at the top end of capacity for the supposed 2 man stand, but it's still over 10' up on the air. Gooder enough. That stand has great sight lines for deer on the trails.

The wind is not supposed to be that bad now. 13 mph now, not even that cold, and not really any rain/ snow. Screenshot_2017-11-15-09-43-42.png

Yes, there's that. That's why I like hunting from a tree stand, and I use a big gun.;)
