They weren't the snazziest SUV but it was a solid vehicle for sure.

Dont know if you had the Isuzu 4cyl or GM 6cyl engine. The 4cyl was generally a quiet engine that had manual valve adjustments that were needed occasionally to keep it quiet. I wasnt around long for the GM 6cyl but I think it was the 2.8 that went in originally?

2 bags so far and that was during the recent cold spell we had up here. Right now a little dino juice is keeping it warm.

I just googled a bit, it was in deed a 1994, must have been the 6 cyl, it had power and we used to pull the 6 horse trailer with the llamas in it. Hindsight and regrets, I sold it after we leased the stupid 2000 Jeep Cherokee lemon. No doubt the guy in Colo Sprgs that bought it got a ton of good use out of it. Interestingly, I'm very happy with my 2005 duramax now, Horkn showed me they are Isuzu based. Guess I'm an Isuzu fan.

If it wasnt noisy, it wasnt burning. Most of the ones I checked didn't need much if any adjustments. :)

The Isuzu guy by us always had the heads off of those 4 cyls in the late 80's early 90's. I can't remember if it was burnt valves or a cracked head. I seem to remember him putting new heads on some of them.

my second Dmax. the other one was a 2004.5 not the best setup and i had a few issues, mostly with the cooling fan screaming under the hood and the engine going to cripple mode (2000 RPM's for no real reason) this 2015 DMax has better cooling and has yet to do anything i don't like.

The Silverado rides way better than my son's power stroke super duty and the interior is much easier on the eyes. can't speak to the cummins, havent driven one

WWW had me googling for that exact one for a couple years, finally found one. It was to be his new rig after a decade in the 99 F250 (something special about that one too). God finally gifted us a baby late in life so I had to park the old Blazer again for air bags yadda yadda. I REALLY liked driving the F250 but my shin hit the bottom of the dash using the clutch pedal, and when you are that close to the wheel the reverse/shifting was actually behind me and it messed up my RA in the my elbow. There, life story, I moved into the dmax/allison, the heated seats ROCK!!

We did some high steep mountain passes this last summer pulling the 5th wheel, he kept telling me how awesome the tranny was and quoting the different gauges LOL

Worked on them for 2 years, never once remember replacing a head on a 4cyl-if any it was very uncommon for us. Head gaskets, sure and even then the heads were always true checking with the straight edge.

Lol, I learned to drive stick off road in a Isuzu trooper 2 with I believe the 4cylinder. It was my neighbor's vehicle, and they bought it new. Iirc, it had the 6 cylinder in it originally, and was nothing but problems, so dealer dropped the 4 cylinder in it. It was Maroon and silver.

Kinda like the older 4.3 gm v6. If they burned a little oil, they would run for 300k. If they didn't use any oil, that motor would never get to 100k.

Not surprised if it was the GM 2.8 V6. I remember the first V6 Troopers coming in and that 2.8 was bouncing like a baby boy while running at idle while the Isuzu 4 cyl ran very smooth. Smoke mentioned GM later changed to a much better 3800 V6.
