Yeah, we've said the Harman will produce heat from a rock, but we all know that isn't possible. What the Harman's will do is produce more heat from a lower grade pellet than other stoves will produce. No matter what the stove, a bad pellet is a bad pellet. To me, AWF vs. MC at the same price is a no brainer. I'd still probably buy the AWF if they were a few bucks more. But if my choices are MC, and MWP at the same price and AWF for a few bucks more, then I'm buying MWP.

Thanks sub, I just don't want save thinking the Harmans computer will handle all the adjusting. A better quality pellet in your price range may save you a couple of extra bucks by not needing as many bags to do the same chore. You still need to keep an eye on what ya are feeding it tis all.

Cheap often implies low quality. None of those pellets I have burned are low quality. They are quality pellets priced reasonably. To that end, I'm keeping my savings in the bank for my next pellet hunt. :tree:

I know what brand I should have used. The Northeast's, I couldn't get any heat out of them.

Can't be....the bag specifically states "High heat". And if it's printed on the bag (like "Premium quality", "low ash" etc), it must be true.

Neither could I. They were a much better pellet before the explosion.

So, Infernos and Northeast pellets on the avoid list. Any others that really are more bad than good?

I don't think we'll see many Inferno's for a while. If we do they prolly are old stock. Fella at Northeast said they are working on BTU content. So Might see better batches in the future? But I'd still tread lightly!

Easy Heat, Big Heat, Instant Heat and Penningtons all make my chit list. I'd be leery of Chit River from the reviews. I'm sure the other fella's/gal's can add to the list of what to avoid.

I know you have said that one batch or year does not always equal another. MWP proves that. However, we all need to work together to keep alert for available and decent pellets. Those dollars we bring home only spend just so far so we have no need to waste them on bad pellets or overpriced ones.

I'd add Maine Choice to the list. Never had much luck with them. Speaking of which, has anyone burned the Geneva brand? Oh yeah, add Green Supreme.

Yep, Decent heat and pretty clean. Not over the top though. Problem with them is they are mainly made from log chippings. So density isn't close to what a dust pellet has. Just don't see them in the box store price range either. So unless they are a steal, I'd only purchase in a pinch/shortage.

Good to know. You're right, they are a little pricey.

Not sure you're going to see these, but maybe....North American (aka Curran blend). Their 100% softies are good, though.

Thanks, the way things are going at HD, you never know where they will find their pellets. One thing for sure, our HD is trying hard to keep them in stock. We may or may not like what they get, but they are trying to keep up.

We don't get that down here at HD, They are done from what we were told. They might get a straggler truck or 2 in, But pretty much spoken for if they do show. Lowes is in a similar boat, But they maybe extending the shipments? No one could tell me for sure.

Down here, TSC is were we have hope. They are still projected to get a few trucks a week and probably continue until late spring. Just not the brands I am looking for. But at least there is some hope they might get a decent pellet in on the next round.

I might have enough? But would still like to get another 15 bags to be sure I don't need to touch the expensive pellets in my stash. I honestly can't afford to replace them as they are well over $300/ton these days.

I haven't validated this, but my brother told me that TSC bought all the supply one of the pellet houses had, then turned around and sold them at their reg. TSC price. They lost money doin this but kept customer satisfaction.

Ditto. Lowes & HD haven't had a shipment here in 3-4 weeks. I gotta give TSC a call.

EDIT: Just called 3 TSC's in my area......nada, zip, nothing. But what WAS funny was the way one guy answered.....

"Hello, this is Tractor Supply...we're out of wood pellets. How can I help you?"
