It split pretty easily, none of the strings that paper birch has. None of the twigs had leaves on them, so no help there.

Yesterday, I'm hearing a chainsaw running next door. I'm in my yard dealing with this-n-that, when I hear "crack..crack.crack". I turn and look up to see the last tree falling. The tree service guy dropped it whole, not in rounds like the previous trees. Of course, I had to go check it out - Hr dropped it right where he said he was hoping, as the field is used to store cars by the dealer at my other next door. I went back over later yesterday afternoon, when I hear another chainsaw running. It was the landowner who started to clean up the mess. So, I headed over with my chainsaw to assist. It started to get dark and I had some other things I needed to deal with, so I shut it down for the day.
This morning, I headed over with my van and X27. Brought back two loads. I had to split them into smaller pieces due to their weight - The day's haul - Here's my new stacks of mostly red oak. The left one is mostly black birch from last month's efforts. Even though there's still about 2 cords on the ground next door from that one tree, I do believe I am finished with moving it to my property. He's planning to get some to an uncle, and then stack some for himself to use in the future. I'll still help my new neighbor with the cutting up and cleanup/stacking. I figure with the red and white oak, along with the black birch, that I've been able to move 2 cord of wood to my property, and helped him with the cutting up of another 5 or 6 that his family, friends, and himself have all divided up. In addition to the oak, he's also got about 1.5 cord of fresh cut white pine to stack. I do believe I am now closing in on having a 4yr supply, onsite. Time for a shower and some Alieve! ~smile~
So, let me get this straight, you get your wood by standing in your yard, and listening for chainsaws? I hope you never go deaf, you'll freeze!
