Burns well. Pin oaks are generally not good for making things due to the type of grain, so if They get milled into anything it’s usually stuff like railroad ties. Red oak and white oak however is excellent for Lumber. All three are dense, fairly easy to split, excellent firewood in my opinion. Pin oaks are tree of choice along streets as they grow tall and straight with high canopy and are pretty storm resistant.
Nice score and primo firewood! Its crazy to me what tree services will put through a chipper theses days. Back in the day we did anything 6" and smaller, but with chippers getting bigger and bigger over the years 12" is pretty standard. To me 6-12" is perfect firewood size.
