No. I bought the Dakota used with 60K on it. I've always been a Chevy guy but never owned a Chevy truck until I bought the Colorado. My only other truck was a Mazda B200 4X4 that I bought new in '95 for 13K. Nice little truck but I wanted something a little bigger when I bought the Dodge. The Colorado is almost as big as the Dakota.

Yes, he has, but has nothing good to say about the ones he bought (a couple of the worst ones GM made....very cheap).

Ah, that explains it - Thanks Pete.
For me it was (old) Chrysler / Dodge - every one I owned was a money losing proposition, sigh. :makeitrain"

Got the throttle body all cleaned up on the 96 'Yota today, had to cut off both metal band clamps holding on the rubber air tube w/ a Dremel and cutting wheel, bolts rusted beyond saving. Pulled the air filter - black as coal, had to have at least 100,000 miles on it.. Seems those clamp bolts were lock-rusted for awhile.. :picard:

The air box was stuffed full w/ acorn shells & leaf debris for good measure. Spent a good hour w/ the white stuff falling outside getting it all cleaned up.. It was brisk out there today.

Picked up a new air filter, oil filter wrench, coolant pressure cap, some jugs of distilled water, and 2 jugs of Zerex Asian Coolant today: Yota is getting a long-overdue coolant flush & fill, oil & filter change, & power steering fluid transfusion tomorrow, after the throttle body / air filter service is completed.

Should be hauling some Pellets by the end of the week.

My drive home yesterday at 4:05 pm

    20171113_160514.jpg

Snowed thru the night and all the way into work this morning. Air temp is 35 but a lot of roads are colder from the last couple days and had up to an inch of icys now on them.

On older vehicles like that ( I do it on my '02 TrailBlazer), might want to use an old turkey baster and suck out as much old PS fluid as you can from the reservoir, and replace with PS fluid that has leak stopper in it.....can't hurt.

Lucas Oil or something like it.

I used the LubeGuard last on my TB with good results:

I'd have a hard time buying anything Chrysler.....I drive a lot of them for work, and they seem to be built to fall apart & break down. Only one I actually like to drive is the newer Grand Jerokee........but I still wouldn't buy one.

Maybe JT can start with one of these. He would be so cool that fish would just jump into the car to be with him then he can cook em with the exhaust

My ride home looked the same at 5:30 and the whit stuff was still falling at bedtime but must have ended shortly after that. Pavement seems to have melted off overnight but everything else is still sn*w covered........black ice might be an issue

Bro had 2 silver dohickies, 1998 and 2007. Had to be towed home several times. Once when the crank broke on his vortek.............. :zip:

Uggggh, them detector thingys are pain in the hind end, those adapters are a tight fit and the pinch me to open clips are too small for bear paws.

Got one installed and another that needs adjustment.

Thanks Pete - after looking @ the PS reservoir hoses / clamps this morning, Turkey baster it is. Won't that just thrill the wife.. Gonna have to squirrel that away somewhere, out-of-site. :D

Not normally a fan of additives / "fixes in a can or bottle" here, but a big +1 on LubeGuard products, really good chemistry in those bottles.

LubeGuard saved an auto trans. on a neighbor's vehicle that had absolutely no business continuing to operate, she got another 50-60k out of it b4 other (motor) problems finished it off.

Liqui Moly MoS2 is another favorite here - makes up for the lack of Moly in the new API spec. oils, I use this stuff everywhere, including the pellet stove's top (cast) auger bearing -> retainer ring, mixed w/ SAE 20 oil. ( Anderol 465 for everything else. )

    MoS2 Anti-Friction Engine Treatment

Thanks much for the post & reminder about LubeGuard, gonna order some, & the Liqui Moly right now. (And a replacement Turkey Baster.)

    :handshake:
