How often do you really deal with trees this size?

She'll p/u about 350lbs no problem ... gantry style with electric hoist and generator .... only bad part of owning a SuperSplit is that you have to lift the wood up to the machine ... I was going to get a small hydraulic to bust-em up to manageable pcs but built the hoist for 1/5 the cost .... 4x4 square is just the right size for a dry 4x4 to fit inside ... held together with 1/2 carriage bolts so it can be taken apart and re-assembled at a job if need be .... also works great to load the truck if u have big rounds like in the video !

I was driving earlier, not too far from my house by some farms. Suddenly I drove past several old growth trees by the side of the road. Ive never seen trees this big before, several that were 6-7' wide, and then one old dead trunk that was about 20' tall, and had to have been 10' wide at the base.

Im not afraid to tackle bigger diameter logs, but a man must know his limitations! Probably get shown up by Midwinter trucking it out in her CRV if the chance came.

To be honest I'd rather work with 5 trees with 2 face than 1 monster with 10 ... it's the same amount of wood but .......

I'll work up to 36" oak logs with no qualms. I just flip and quarter them and then load em in the truck. Anything bigger would probably be a no go for me.

If somebody has cut it into rounds, no problem splitting it to manageable size, given no time constraints. The manual stuff is simple, the felling and bucking are the tricky parts.

Sometimes "rounds" aren't round ... try maneuvering a 500lb chunk when the "cam" is hitting the ground ! Lol
