Im a long time lurker and figured Id sign up to participate.. I usually read while in a tree stand, which is just about every day from september thru jan...

We heat our house almost 100% by wood. We have a Lopi Freedom Bay insert in a 2700sq ft house on the eastern shore of MD. It sure beats watching the meter spin due to the two electric heat pumps!

We've had this house for four years, and in those four years of ownership its always been wood heat, and I have yet to pay for any "wood". The first year, my rookie year I didnt know how much wood to expect to need and came up short by December hahahah... I have an Envi block dealer close by and did purchase a ton and got thru..

Since then I went nuts cutting and splitting... Ive been 2yrs ahead since lol..

My wife thinks Im nuts, I keep the wood species seperated. I start the year with Tulip Poplar, then on to my maple (favorite due to drying time and its abudance around here), cherry and walnut, then to my red and white oaks, then reverse in order per the temps.

I frequently keep my eyes on the side of the road for scrounges... But we also have a few farms that we own, that i drive the tractor to and cut away.

Im sitting pretty with 12cords split and stacked right now... And I have about 2cords of white oak in rounds I'll go to work on in feb. Theres a beech tree that snapped on one farm that will get cut after Im done chasing Mr. Buck, and before its time for Mr Gobbler... And several cherries that are leaning in one of my fields...

    Thanks for having me!

The cats in her spot until April lol!

Like I said before, have some TP burning now to get a coal bed for that load of Walnut and Cherry sitting on the hearth. Not a huge load as I'll be up bright and early for another hunt... Its the rut

The stone goes up 30', the house isnt typical for this area, but its a large A frame more suited for the mtn's than being this close to the coast, but we love it. Can kinda see my game room to the right, no chicks allowed! I keep my whitetail, turkey and sika deer mounts in there with my booze:cheers:
