Not everyone does the same thing here but as we start to know each other, you find out how its done or can be. I like seeing this stuff and the way how its prepared. You don’t have to split your wood apparently. Logs go on and that’s that. The less you have to process, the more impressive it gets. If I was living that life you got, you bet you need to use techniques to make it quick and simple. Lots done in a small amount as you get busier during this time of the year. Yup. Cutting edges . I get them for free from a DOT highway station. Kristian got me my first job with Thor and Bronk. I was super impressed with his Huge processor. 10+ cord per hour. Very impressive. I didn't mean to steal your thread.
No worries, your good. I like the info, and everyone likes pictures. Same here got mine for Tok DOT. He sold that big one with the circular blade, maybe 2 years back. Was in the process of making another one, still sitting behind the bus barn.
The way I look at it, I have access to 6.5 million acre wildfire burn from 1996 and have fire killed 21 year old standing dead. Its as dry as it will get. Why cut wood that I have to split, when I can cut wood that does not. Nice straight, limbs burned off most of the time. Most people split their wood to the size I can just cut to length...win/win...for me.
Either that or move your azz to stay warm ... it's unseasonably 19 deg here in wny but nowhere near -40 ... I guess u would have to get used to it
Who is running Tok Transportation now ? . I didn't really want to " like" your post cause he was a real great guy. He showed me his whole operation there. And he introduced me to Marshall to get a new stove. That stove is what is heating our cabin now.
Yup, Where I live it gets Cold !! But where Rope lives it get REAL , LONG TERM C O L D !!!!!!! it is very often colder in Tok than it is in the Arctic ! No joke ! Tok and Northway, 2 of the consistently coldest places in Alaska. I've seen it as cold as -62°F ambient here in Glennallen. I'm sure Rope has seen it a good bit colder there.
Stretch Blackard bought the transport company from Amy, he is also the manager at Iron Dog. Kristian was a great dude and will be missed. Alaska Stove's still is making them.
While it gets cold here, -77* is the worst I have seen. That is not normal. I would take my -50* we hardly have any wind, and almost no humidity. To me +32* with 80%+ humidity and any wind over 3mph is way worse than -50* no wind and 10%< humidity. When I live in Northern Maine just above Presque Isle that weather was way worse to me. The wind always blew hard unless it was warmer than 65*. The humidity was always high, seemed really close to 100%.
I am looking forward to you moving back to Tok. You want to come winter moose and caribou hunting right?
