Fabz Is the brand Razor? The drivers look like Stihl.

 

Is that grader blade stakes on the back? I used grader blade to make forks for John.

 

It is Stihl chain ..... I prefer using the Stihl line of chain as I have found it to be of superior quality albeit a bit more expensive ..... thru trial and error I've found a good grind that cuts quickly and has good longevity in CLEAN Wood .....

 

For dirty Wood I use square tooth-round ground ... I've made loops for people and the feedback has been great ... if you have a square-grinder like a silvey or a simington u can monkey around until u find what you want !

 

Rope ; if ya have a smaller saw that can run Stihl picco do yourself a favor and check it out ... ps 63 (3/8 lo-pro)with a sqr/sqr grind cuts unbelievably quick ..... I've got a ported 241c with a 16" bar "mighty mite" 42cc 9.9lbs that is the saw of choice for 14" and under wood ..... the speed and fuel economy is unbelievable

 

Are you beakin there or is it glare?

 

I have neither grinder, I only hand file. I have only used the semi chisel. However I bought some files and plan on picking up a few loops of chisel, square file and giving it a go. I have looked at grinders online, not sure if I want to drop the coin on a grinder. I only use 8-10 loops of chain a year, not sure its worth the investment of a grinder. My local Stihl dealer grinds with a round, and its $12 a loop to be sharpened. Having said that, he is very thorough with a hint of OCD. I have seen him grind some chain. He mics all the links finds the shortest, then cuts them to that length, then he goes after the rakers. He does a great job on what he works on. It doesn't leave the shop until its right.

 

My small saw is a 261. I have a 034 super and 2@ 036's and a new 441. I have just bought the 261 and 441 in the last month.

 

Is that the RSLK?

 

261 can run it for sure ! I have a 261c running ps 63 sqr/sqr and it cuts well ..... I'd just be careful with anything larger than a 50cc saw ..... if u could equip the 441c with said chain I have a feeling it would snapola

 

RS ... used to be called RSC ... I don't use RSLK ... just convert the RS to sqr/sqr

 

That's a good combo Rope ..... if you can run a 241c do it ..... of all my saws it's the most fun to operate !

I like them all, for different reasons. I don't believe in one size fits all. I have not looked at a 241c, but will next time I am in the shop. I am 6'3" and like running a 25" bar, so I don't have to bend over as much. I am running a 20" ES Light on the 261 I am going to use that to fell. As you can see from the pictures, I don't cut really big trees. I cut standing dead white spruce from a 1996 wildfire. With 21 year old standing dead trees, I don't need to split wood for it to dry. I don't have hardly any competition for the less than 8-10 inch diameter trees. Most around here look for bigger trees. I look for wood I can cut to length and put in the stove.

 

Thanks, I am always looking for a better way of doing things. Any way I can streamline the process, why not. One of the reasons I like FHC so much. I like seeing how everyone does things. Never know when you will learn something. I have always been a round filer. Never know anything else, now I go off and stumble on the square file sticky thread. I am all for trying anything, never know when you will find a better way.

I am looking online @ stihl's website and it looks like I have RS. This is a semi chisel correct? And you convert from round file to square file?
