My new phone uses the same SIM card that came out of my old one, same carrier Verizon.

With unlocked phones, you can always switch your phone service between different phones as easily as popping out the SIM card and moving it. ... The opposite of an unlocked phone is a locked phone. In contrast, only SIM cards from a specific cell phone company will work in its locked phones.

Similar here Greenstick , I've switched phones on both Verizon (to another verizon phone) and T-Mobile (to another T-Mobile phone). Also, I inherited my husbands nice phone in 2016, no sim card, but Verizon helped me program it.

I'm not certain, but under the impression the sIM card only transfers id info for payment/service, and any glitch thingies on the old phone stay on the old phone. Anyone know?

Did you try taking the battery out and put it back in ? sometimes that will cure a problem

    Try this
When you hit the power button and the phone doesn’t respond, take the back cover off and pull the battery out. Press and hold the button for 1 minute to drain off electricity that is stored in capacitors and other electronic components inside. Now place the battery back in and attempt to turn Galaxy S4 on.

I always buy my accessories on Amazon. Shop around and you can find some less desirable case colors for short money. My wife and I's phones live in Otterbox defenders. When I got her the new Galaxy S7 I pulled up the 5 cheapest Otterbox cases and told her to pick. $20 shipped, compared to $70 in the store!

For me personally, I dont need to have the newest phone. Before the new payment plans, I would always buy the phone that was 1-2 models old. I used to buy new Blackberries from AT&T for 99 cents with a contract. One time I had one that didnt work properly out of the box, they told me they had to charge me the same purchase price for the new replacement and I would be credited when the bad one made it back. So I got a 99 cent parts phone.

I love the otterbox's, especially with a 3yo. My wife and I were out to dinner with a few other couples once, and someone commented on how bulky my wifes phone was. I picked it up off the table with everyone looking at me, reached behind my back and just let the phone drop. Everyone looked horrified, I picked it up and showed the perfectly fine phone to them and said, THATS WHY YOU HAVE ONE!

There are different sizes of simm cards. But, if it fits, it will work. Usually the carrier won't change you for a new sim card. So you can simply get a new phone.

If you want to be under $200 I'd get either the Moto e4+ or the Moto g5 gs5 or g5+

Do you want a 5" screen or a bigger one at 5.5"?

Maybe my carrier is different so requires a new SIM card (which is free). Or maybe there was another issue present that did not allow the new phone to work when I tried transferring the card myself. I do know that they read the old SIM from their terminal and transferred data.

I started with otterbox, then went to life proof case. Now I've got a unicorn beetle case (from amazon)with a screen protector... they are the only reason all my IPhones have survived me....:D... too many drops and hits...

My biggest problem is still super weak signal. Yet, others can get a signal when I can't here; albeit still a bit weak. Sounds like the only fix I have is to get a new phone but I hate to. Did that once but didn't get anywhere with it except to lighten our purse a bit.

Dennis we did this in 2014, took me from 0 or 1 bar to 3 sometimes more. Antenna on the chimney, gray box within reach in den, and white panel thing on ceiling in the main room.

Yup tried that, the most I can get is a flicker on the screen and then a seizure vibration for a minute and then darkness....It is haunted!

I actuslly like a slightly smaller screen just because I don't live on my phone and want it able to slip in a shirt pocket and not pull my pants down.

Kinda lookin at a Samsung J3 Sky has a 6.0 OS and 16 g memory I saw on an ad store sale for $99. Is this ok for the price? Like I said I don't do near what a smart phone can do because I am a simple minded cranky old man with a strong preference to be away from most technogeek things and stay outside of society unless it involves the grand kids or choppin wood with you guys.
