66 degrees at 2151 hrs. Brrrrr....I may have to put on socks and sneakers. Hate wearing anything but flip flops with my shorts.
Finally cooling off here, the kind of temps I like to start whittling away at logs I've had stacked up since Spring and figures I got hit by a car Saturday getting thrown into the windshield like a moose and am supposed to be taking it easy. Supposed to switch from this above average temps to below average temps by end of week. Nice cutting weather right now though. Figures,
WTF? Drop a bomb like the in the middle of a post??? What the heck happened? Still posting here , You are a tough ole goat . We need “The rest of the story”
Headed back that was this week to visit Mom . Greensburg area. Was hoping to have bike riding weather
LOl. Didn't get hit that hard. I run, interval training. Trying to lose the belly energy storage tire. I walk at a 15:00 pace up to the college ring road a mile up the street and then run in 1/4 mile intervals. 8:00 pace for a quarter mile, 15:00 pace for a quarter mile. I get 3 to 6 miles in a day. That's about the best I can do right now. I could run further or/and faster but then it would have to be every other day. I prefer every day. Saturday I was feeling chipper so went out a second time about an hour after dark. I just transitioned to morning training so was just as much habit. Walking thru a marked intersection/crosswalk a car came. slowed down for the stop sign and I thought the kid saw me so I kept going. (The kids here are really good about giving peds the right of way in part because of all the warning signs about stopping at cross walks. ) He didn't see me. Probably just looking for cars. Little tiny corolla so got me at the knee , very center of the front hood/bumper/grill and tossed me at the windshield chin first. Corolla hoods are only about 4 feet long. LOL. He slammed the brakes and I slid off like being poured out of a coffee cup onto the ground. For about a ten count. Not blacked out , just couldn't get up. Then everything clicked, got up and I was fine so kept on with the walking and running. Felt pretty good actually. The better smarter half is still <not understanding> why I didn't do license, registration, cops and the whole nine yards. Daughter is a trauma nurse and she says the ten count was like getting a good uppercut in a boxing match, without gloves, or a bar fight. Not something to be doing at 64. Very, very slight headache the next day so doc says take it easy after a concussive event. Tiny dime-sized black and blue mark on the chin, no loose or cracked teeth sore leg above the knee like I got hit with a baseball bat that I can hardly feel today. Car wouldn't have had to have been rolling too much faster to not be so lucky. It happens far too quick. I'll be working on my 19/20, 20/21 supply soon enough.
Holly crap I ride my bike with flashing lights, front/rear even during daytime Get a couple of them, clip on front & rear Pretty small & cheap up to $30 Some are rechargeable Not 100% but 99.5 that they’ll see you Or stop or yield, but helps Peds & bikers always lose when hit by s vehicle
Yeah I started out with an old mountain bike but cars go a bit too fast on this road (which has bicycle lanes on each side ! ) and some seem to like to see how close they can get. I really thought running was safer. A treadmill bothers my ankles so I'm keeping at it. From a 38 to a 35 so gotta keep at it. Legs just keep getting stronger as long as I keep at it.
LOL Maybe some of those reflectorized bands I've seen some runners have on their ankles . There was a lady who used to trot with her dog on a leash every morning wearing one of those lime green jackets with the bright orange and silver reflectorized stripes Giant X on the front and back. Thought she was a school bus crossing guard or something. Maybe just being super careful. Getting plowed into and tossed like nothing sure is surreal.
Medium tire guy, more comfort Mostly road ,but 40c tires, flatbar, thudbuster seat post + Some trails on mt bike
