Never started one of those and I don’t think flannel is a badge of honor . You can cook yourself just wearing it. But its nice when you got a fire going outside.

I was in the grocery the other day wearing 2stroke and chips. Lady was stocking the shelves. I turned into that isle she never look up/over as I got close. She goes how wood cutting going? Shocked I mumbled hhgghhh. Still task at hand never looking up “Oh hey Tom, you smell like saw and wood”. I reply no blood, she goes “Ah nothing like a good day in the woods an nobody dead”. God I love my small town!

Don't wear flannel or sweatshirts to the woods they snag on everything and the sawdust and chips stick to them.

Ask pretty much anyone who works for a logging crew here no one will know what "corks" are even if you say cork boots. I bet only a hand full of crew owners would know what they are.

Awful handy when pulling the cable uphill on a glazed crust. Called “caulked” boots in this neck of the woods.

Not so good for the kitchen linoleum!!

Haha. We rarely have a "glazed crust" around here. And no one pulls a winch cable unless the skidder, cutter or a truck is stuck and or there pulling it out

In coastal Alaska , they are mandatory. Single most important piece of safety gear. Good sharp corks. So far ahead of hard hats , eye protection , chaps or chain brakes . They don't even compare.
Falling timber on the coast, you don't walk on the ground much.

New guy to the forum. Not a new guy to saws, or logging. I'm more than upset that I sold my 066 to a beggar. Now I want it back, but I got justly laughed at. I was going to pick up a 661 yesterday but thought I would Google them first. Glad I did! My mechanic has got old timers now and can't remember much, so I guess I'm going to have to buy a stock 5 cube saw and leave it that way. Just saying hello to all. I wish I could buy a new husky 285, but the one I have is going to my son when he gets in high school. The search continues...

Welcome to our family nice to meet you! I was one of the ones on this thread with problems with the 661, but all straightened out now. Had all new the most updated electronics put on it because it was still under warranty. It actually runs better with tbe new updated electronics. My saw had the first generation coil on it that is known for causing problems. Just in case it acts up again I have a WJ-69 carb on the shelf to throw on. The next step is to buy an unlimited "1122 coil" that will totally eliminate the M-tronics.
