45 deg. here.....house was 64...figured I built a little take the chill off fire with some kiln dried white oak peices (small stuff)...works great for the situation.

Let the stove go cold yesterday morning. Made it up to 45 and only went down to 40 overnight so let the furnace take over. I was working on a rollable wood box and didn't want to get cooked out. Comfy when relaxing but down right hot when working near that thing.

Probably light it back up today as its 36 right now and temps are to drop all day down to the upper teens for tonight. Just have to put the fold down door on the front of the box and fill it up through the basement window and roll over to its resting place!

Just a touch above freezing now. Just. We already had the high temps for today.

Looks like a cooling trend throughout the upcoming week. Nothing much. Tonight will be in the teens.

We'll be lighting up the WS later in the week. Highs around 30° with mid teens overnight. Just been running the PS here and there.

A bit brisk out there this morning. Looking at -17 C, -24 C with the wind. Or 1 F feels like -11 F. Hope this isn't a sign of how our winter is going to be!:shiver: Poplar feeding the reactor, with a few pieces of larch on standby.

You are correct about the short wheelbase liking to swap ends. But not right with the studded tires. Yes, they work well on ice or packed snow but do tear the crap out of the roads and that is why they were outlawed in our state.

Crazy when we got up and found it was 50 degrees outside. Looks like that will definitely be the high temperature around here for a while with a cold front moving in and sending temperatures a bit lower than they've been so far this season.

Good morning saskwoodburner! We are about 7c warmer than yesterday morning. -10c/14f here at the moment. I woke up and found that Mrs Sean had loaded the stove with some spruce :) I grabbed a coffee and came and sat by the fire.

Holy crap, we can't get 8 pieces of wood in our stove unless they were like matchsticks. Taking the chill out usually means 3 pieces maximum here.

Lucky duck you are. I'm cursed with can't sleep much syndrome, so I'm last to bed, first to rise, so the only fire I see in the morning is coals.

That sucks. Even when Im heavily stressed I can sleep like a baby. Others in my family have a hard time sleeping as well.

It's a blessing and a curse at the same time. By the time I'm 70, I'll really be 80!!! It's not so bad, the quality is there, just not the elapsed time. My body lets me know when I need more sleep anyways. I get kind of hellish if I only sleep 4 or 5 hours for too many days in a row.

Your wife loading it up is a nice feeling eh? The lady here did the same thing just now. Snowing and blizzard like, 34-36 as wind fluctuations are happening right now. It was in the high 30’s this morning but warm house staved off the fire until my dog noticed I opened the window to the den...
The face on her said it all, “Fire it up Daddy”
