    :pete:
I'll start by checking fuel pressure and maybe clean the intake of carbon deposits. Thinkin we shoulda traded it in and bought a new one!! :makeitrain"

been squirting PB blaster in the spark plug holes. valves all look good from the manifold side (no rust), but I cant see the pistons thru the plug holes as the motor is stopped mid-stroke, as usual.

eliminated the drive train by blocking the clutch, putting it in gear and towing it a little. so it's definitely engine related.

no big deal. worst case i'll pop the head, pan and pistons for a quick in-chassis (it had a full rebuild not long ago). all it will cost is a gasket set.

True, but the option of a cheaper/portable genny can handle that. True, you have to keep filling it with gas but I highly doubt you will use 160 gallons in 3 days. Paying $$ for the convenience of whole house and plug n play setup.

If I had onsite propane already and was in an area that lost power a lot, I would consider the whole house setup or at least partial house.

    edit-correction of gallons

I have a creek that runs through my property that puts a portion of my yard in a flood plain, the water table is very high. My 22kw whole house generator is truthfully there just to run my 1 hp sump pump and my 3 hp (I think) foundation pump. The fact that it powers the entire house is just gravy. Power goes out very rarely, but if it goes out in a rain storm, without the genny I would be flooded.

I can rent a kit that cleans the fuel rails, injectors and intake path. I guess you disable the fuel pump and connect this to the shrader valve. It has a can of cleaner that runs the engine for about 10 minutes or so. Once it stalls you disconnect and enable the fuel pump. Gonna cost about $100 bucks, But much cheaper than the $400 the auto-shop quoted.

Hopefully its not them park plugs cause that's gonna be a PITA.......... And lots of cash!! :makeitrain"

I am going this route to clean the top end-it wont clean the injectors but a can of Seafoam in the tank will

There is a chance that either of these methods can take out the plugs.......I am thinking the Seafoam version is less intense than the straight injection method

I've tried the Seafoam through the intake in the past on my '02 Trailblazer, but didn't notice much change except for tons of white smoke while doing it.
IMO, putting a can of this in every 2-3 months is the best thing......have used it on my Trailblazer since it hit 100K, which now has 245K+, and starts & idles like new.....Advance Auto always seems to have a sale, or buy 1- get 1 deal....lubes elect. fuel pumps too. best stuff going, IMO:
Techron Concentrate Plus Complete Fuel System Cleaner | Chevron Lubricants

BTW, make sure you do this OUTDOORS. :D

BTW, I ran the Seafoam through the hose that connect to the power brake booster. (I bought the pour can version) That way, bypasses all the intake tube sensors, etc, and goes direct to the intake manifold. Slowly pour in until about 3/4 can is gone while keeping RPM's up. Then, pour in as fast as possible to soak the interior and stall the motor. Let sit for 15-20 min, then re-start engine and rev it up until all white smoke is gone.

damm, I have used Techron way back when and your right it always worked great. Forgot about that stuff.

I will still try the Seafoam through the intake as I am trying to clean up the combustion chamber from the oil fouling that the original style PCV that caused.

Kind of looking forward to the smoke show
