This is true. But we no longer have to buy eggs. These ladies have become egg laying machines! And the whole family loves eggs.

Day to day with them. I hoping by the time full time winter/freeze sets in, they'll have it resolved. Thanks.

Are yours still laying good? Mine are already starting to slow down. Will pick back up when daylight hours kick back up. By another month mine will probably stop most egg production.

Up early this morning to empty the car of yesterday's shopping. Got home late as we went to a seminar about senior pets. Cricket is starting to be considered a senior and guess what? Most of the advice could be taken by the other seniors in this household. More exercise, less food!

I think campinspecter is headed out for a load of farwood this morning. It depends on how long our misty rain will be lasting. I am thinking of baking fruitcakes today or at least get the candied fruit ready for each batch.

Interesting, the original 1/3 of this home is cement block it sucks the heat from the rest of the house.
    Thanks

Winter time is reloading time. I keep the basement at 70° since I'm down there quite a bit. Maybe it's not the walls and everything else is a heat sink, all I know is 50-60° is a pain to manage.

My house is all cement block too in the basement and it sucks heat right out. However, if Casper 's walls are insulated on the outside with rigid foam (as it "should" be - and ideally there is insulation under the poured floor too), then the heat has nowhere to go and is held by the mass. I know for a fact my current foundation is not insulated from outside. My previous house was insulated both outside and inside so was much easier to heat and keep warm.

No insulation under the floor. In the mid 1990's basement wall insulation only had to be below grade. There is no insulation on the exterior walls above grade. Just the blue stuff below. The interior is not finished or insulated either.

This "wellness appointment or exam" is one of the silliest things the doctors have though up yet. Does it sound better than a physical? Does it cost more? Who came up with this stupidity anyway?

Have you ever made a wire for catching chickens? Easy to make and easy to use and easy to catch chickens.

I hear the main reason Christmas is the time for fruitcakes is because they are the only ones that will last from one Christmas to the other?!
No, I never could stand the things.

I saw an article about a fruitcake found in the Antarctica that one of the explorers left behind in 1911. It was still in good condition. I actually have the top of our wedding cake (fruitcake) in the freezer and it is 45 years old. Should be good for another 60, I am guessing.

Good for you? Perhaps you can convince Allan to eat it if you ever take it out?

Now I gotta tell everyone why fruitcakes are... fruitcakes... it's because they all have to be left in Antarctica first and frozen solid for many decades... sorry E... couldn't resist...
