It's been in the 40s here and real damp. Combine that damp with wind and it feels cold. Having the wood boiler going now feels great!
Low was 33 last night , put a mixed load in the Republic , maple, walnut n ash. Gloomy day 41 put some chunks in
We were -2c this morning with about 4 inches of snow. Its cleared up a bit at 0c now but snow and dropping temps are coming our way. I had to shovel the driveway for the first time this season.
Its 50 outside but cooler in the house. Actually the wind chill is responsible. Had some hardwood and softwood pallet material in the stove along with some mismatched softwood splits. Probably pine and hemlock. Last night was just a really nice fire but it was warmer during the later half of the night as I shut the windows except the bedroom and let the fire do some work. Plenty of trick or treaters too!
48 degrees and it's been raining all day, temps into the 60's tomolly with more rain. Burning down a bed of soft maple charcoals..might let the beast burn out tomolly, depends on the winds.
Mid 50's to mid 60's with continued chance of rain. Gonna' rake some coals, maybe toss a couple sticks in the beast to keep any chill out.
52 here and overcast. It's supposed to go up to 60 ish, wacky warm weather for up here in November. So, no fire today.
Can't remember, is this your first year burning? Regarding Trick or Treaters, we had two more than last year.....for this years's total of 2!
Just at freezing now. Got another 2" of the slop overnight. Just enough to have to put the shovel down. Ice underneath it so the highways will be laden with salt today.
Woke up to some -10 C (14 F) weather this morning. I managed to pull off an incredible tetris load last night, and the side and face temps on the stove were 250 F and 290 F. With an Englander 17 after 6 1/2 hours, that's darn near miracle territory! Poplar, same as always.
First two weeks as of yesterday really! Its going really well. Anything I have in my stacks have been mostly curing since last summer. Not this one last one. Finished up a lot of cutting in the spring. Ive also been burning doug fir that was split in February and already shows its great wood. Only had about one or two smoldering fires that just took a little more air to get going, mostly black locust. Yeah when I moved into this house I was surprised at how many trick or treaters knocked on my door the first Halloween here. This year was for sure a bigger one. Ive been more prepared too. Pumpkins and whatnot.
Fire this morning was some hardwood pallet cuts and doug fir splits on top. Not needing a huge fire but enough to dry up the shower I took. Amazing as it sounds but I don’t miss my dehumidifier... it was about 40° this morning starting the fire. Won’t be getting up much past 50 these next 10 ish days. Also saying it’s possible snow on Sunday. We’ll see about that!
I believe I read somewhere that you are burning now? If yes the wood heat will be great at chasing away that damp air in the house.
Partially or totally dark, especially dismal and dreary: a damp, gloomy day Just because the weather's gloomy doesn't mean I am
