No timeline on when, but we are bringing back the ancient "Englewood" smoke dragon out of the pole barn to replace the newer NC13 for this winter. Be it the lodgepole pine we burn, giant burn box and obviously burn times, that's where we are at. Wish us luck. Hey, atleast we have the 1952 chimney chiseled off and relined with an insulated liner :)

Hey, you been gone a while WW?

We have been doing the opposite here, the smoke dragon is out and the 30-NC is going in. Of course, the 30 is a bigger stove than the 13.

Yep, we throw the heat pump idea out there once in a while, then I go cut some more firewood.

You will enjoy the longer burn times for sure, as you well know.
Hope it moves well for you!

Looked a few weeks ago, nothing.
Some stores have (had) the 28-3500 furnace for half price (or less) though.
On another note...turns out I didn't qualify for the $300 tax credit that was on the NC30 I bought last year. Yeah, since I used the tax credit that was available back in 2010 (or whenever it was) that meant not eligible for this one. Oh, well, 'twas still a great deal...it's gonna look pretty sweet on the hearth that my in-laws built for it at their new house.
I'll get some pics once its set up :ithappened:

Yep, the tax credit is a one-timer.

Update, the house is built and the stove is in...they stared at it all summer until I finally got the call to come over for the inaugural fire last Saturday...went fine, but I got the feeling they weren't paying much attention to me when I was telling them the best way to run it...probably just heard "blah blah blah" since they have been burning wood (in old school stoves) since before I was born...this is their first EPA stove.
Now mind you I started their new firewood hoard by donating the top limbs out of dead (and DRY!) EAB killed Ash tree, so the wood is dry...fast forward to today....that's 4 days since first fire...the window of the 30 is black...
    creosote-running-down-the-glass-like-a-cat-stove-black! :headbang::headbang::headbang::hair::hair::picard:
My wife thinks I need to write up something for them...IIRC I think I've seen somebody has already posted a write up on running EPA stoves around here somewheres....no?
Oh, and I forgot the pics I promised...I'll try to remember them the next time I'm over there...their setup turned out really nice looking.

Make sure you give them one for flue, thats were the creosote problem stems from.

I think it was Highbeam or maybe Huntindog1 had a good detailed post , thought I bookmarked it but cant find it.
Best thing they can do is adjust stove so when they go outside and look they see very little or no smoke , keep doing it till it's figured out .

    And this

Yeah, I'll have to get 'em a probe type thermos since it is double wall pipe...remember I said he built the chimney chase in the corner? Yup, I had to go from planning a straight up chimney with single wall stove pipe, to double wall with (2) 45's...
