Just finished the once a year wellness exam at doctor and all is well. The temperature is 49° , windy and a little rain coming down and it's making it pretty cold but it still a good day for a walk !

The 3+ inches of rain has the water over the dam in the big city flowing well.

Temps. are finally dropping here: mid- 50's right now but heading into the high 30's tonight.

In other news, power is back on both at my house, as well as at COX so there will be links to the outside world tonight. After getting used to the continuous stream of available information, it is a really odd thing to have the information 'cord' cut. I felt like a man living in the middle ages, waiting for word from the castle as to what was going on. And I am more than old enough to remember when the Internet was printed on paper but still, we get used to this stuff and then everything is all off- kilter when it is removed. I missed this forum too!

Still just burning pellets here and there. Snow on the higher summits, nothing down lower yet, but this will change soon. Mid 20s expected overnight. Nh,Vt,Maine still cleaning up debris from the latest storm. Power still out for many - more than the ice storm of '98 so the news said.

Still on the pine plan. Low 29 tonight, so we'll just set the thermostat a little lower over night to keep the water hot longer. I'll crack it back up and refill before work at 4:30.

Trying to hold out until daytime highs are below freezing before getting into the hard stuff.

Got to the cottage today and it was 35 inside! yikes

Lit off the 13, didn't enter the garage, took out some freezables from the cupboards and (you guessed it) shoveled. I've got almost 1 1/2 hours of shoveling today alone.

gonna be a long winter, I think!

Its a balmy 2c here at the moment and the stove is full of fir and lodgepole. The evening was free of rain and snow for all the little goblins. Happy Halloween!

30 here this AM and 55 inside. I haven't lit a fire yet this fall, or used any heat yet of any kind. But I'm thinking that will change real soon. We're still racing to get outdoor chores done, painting, building maint, and property clean up done and we are just about there. We had pumpkins all around the wood stove, they became Jack O' lanterns for the Halloween party last night. So the stove area is free and clear and will soon be in use. Then I have 2 cord or so so of wood to c/s/s for 2020/2021, but that is not work, that is fun!

32 to mid 40's with rain.
The Greedy Hungry beast is working on a diet of chunky 1/2 rotten soft maple.
Continued rain with temps climbing into 50's/60's the next couple days.

Maybe we'll hit 33 today. The low 20's overnight felt like 14.

2"-4" slated for this afternoon. Then 3" more overnight. Can't let those shovels cool off now, can we?

A crisp morning sitting at -5 C (23 F) with poplar in the reactor. -11 C (12 F) if you count the wind. Some colder weather should be rolling in tonight if the weather guessers are right, so the little stove will start pulling it's weight.

You have to stop that sooner or later....

I remember back when...when I used to do lots of shoveling. Now it seems the handles have all gone bad and none seem to fit me anymore.

A bit of snow moving through just to our north. Sun trying to shine here but we don't see much of that anymore. We've entered that time of year when we won't see much sun for the next 3 or 4 months.
