Just two Maples, I think one is a Sugar and the other is a Red. The plan is to get both these out of the woods by next weekend.
I went scouting this afternoon too. Didn't go too far out. Came across this beauty of a red oak uprooted at the edge of a brook but bolstered by a big swamp maple. A real pickle. I think I'll just keep an eye on the situation for a while.
That's a nice tree. I've had them uprooted and held up by another tree so I left it until it came down.......four years later.
Nice of mother nature to give you a hand. Loves me some sugar maple! Little bit on deck for this year, quite a bit more for 2019.
M2theB I will second the advice about letting mother nature finish getting those trees down. It may take awhile but it is safer.
It fell across the trail in that area, we'll lose a few rounds near the bottom but the rest will burn fine.
I'll never complain. I still have about 5 or 6 more areas that need checking but that's for a different day. The septic will be pumped out by the end of the week and then it's time for some trail widening and another area that will be cleared for storage then I can grab the above two maples. I would've grabbed these two today but I had a few inside jobs that got done today.
I had to cut this badboy off my driveway the morning after Still 75000+ people without power in NH though!
I've managed to find a small load at the dump every time I've been this week, but it hasn't been a wood bonanza. Lots of pine to pick through.
