Hi HDRock, not much storing of wood on these poarches if i can help it. Too many scorpions around here and the packrats will move in immediately.
Midwinter, i am on site full time now with some of our dogs. My hubby is still working so he stays in town during the week. We build a little cabin with a loft inside, nothing fancy. Just enough to have a bed and computer upstairs. That's where i'm at right now. Downstairs has a few kitchen things like microwave, hot plates, small refrigerator, toaster oven and now also a small freezer which i love. It saves me trips into town. The only heat in here is an electric space heater, when it gets really cold we run two. The dogs have a twinbed downstairs with an electric blanket under their bedding for really cold days. The bathroom is under the overhang to the side with a nice hot water shower run on propane. It's kind of like glorified camping but i love it. Don't have a good picture of the cabin sorry about the mess.

You've got it going on, gravel driveway, classy! I'm glad you have the dogs to keep you company. And to keep the packrats at bay, none of those in NH, or scorpions. Yikes!

Welcome aboard. Looks like you're off to great start with wood, and a nice spot to sit and enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Thank you for the pictures and your posts. We like em!

Ah, the coytes are singing. love listening to them.
Hi Canadian border VT. no wood needs splitting to properly dry. It get very humid here during the summer, even though we often don't get the longed for rain. We have a lot of mold and dryrot.

Midwinter, I tried to answer your question but the post disappeared. Must have hit the wrong key.
I am out here full time now with some of our dogs. My husband comes on weekends he works in town. We build a small cabin with a loft, just enough for a bed and computer upstairs. Thats where i'm now. The downstairs has a bit of a "kitchen" not much. But i just got a small freezer in addition to the small refrigerator and i love it. It saves me many trips into town. The bathroom is on the overhang to the side but has a nice hot water shower run on propane. It's kind of like glorified camping but i love it.
Don't have a good picture of the cabin. please excuse the mess.

You are right HD Rock. We just haven't had time. Can only do so much in 24 hours. But the wood looks still pretty good. Can't burn it this year it was just cut in January.
Not getting younger either:hair:stuff takes longer.

Lucy, I love your place and it looks great! Looks like your firewood stash is coming along very nicely also.

I also live in a steel building, as do my neighbors. I think it's becoming more popular these days.

I'm in a little colder climate than you though. ;)

Hi Fanatical1, love your building. It looks great. Yes it is warmer here and i miss the snow. We are putting gutter on right now. Have you had any trouble with yours in winter?

The builder we hired couldn't have tied his shoes if he'd tried. He sad yes mam to everything and the crew did whatever they wanted and a lot of it is quite disasterous.
At first we were going to take him to court but then decided it wasn't worth it. We've spend months fixing things and not all can be fixed, we'll just have to work around it. We'd have framed it ourselves if we were younger but figured going with a builder would have to be all right just for the framimg, metal and concrete pad. We have no overhang at the gables, no air /water (rat) guards at the bottom, window on the gable wall leaking. Porches not at a proper drain angle. We replaced both entrance doors with proper entry doors not the light weight metal things (in the picture) they had litterally nailed into the opening. We had to totally reframe the areas.
Sorry, have been mad about all this for a long time. When we looked around and talked to other people it doesn't seem very unusual that so called Pole barn builders don't deliver what they claim.
