Hello Everybody, Thought i'd introduce myself. Have enjoyed reading your forum. Just came in from working on the new wood shed for the dryer wood. I'm actually Cat and Lucy is the young Lady on the avatar, one of our furry kids. My husband and I are finally doing what we have dreamed of for many years. Bought some land, build a cabin and now a metal house. So it's finally time to make use of all the wood thats been saved. We'll pick up our wood stove a True North TN20 in a couple of weeks and then have to install the chimney. I'm sure we'll be back with lots of questions. Looking forward to be part of the FHC.
Thanks MO.Wood, Working on being a Coard hoarder right now with hope for the BTU. During the past years i have had many neat stacks of all kinds of saved wood just to have them rot or be eaten by the bugs. Now they finally will get used. Here is some of the current wood a lot has been split by now.
Hi Cat/Lucy, I guess I'll call you Lucy cuz we all go by our profile names. I'm so glad you decided to transition from lurking to posting! We need more lurkers to step up and tell us their stories. I'm curious about your metal house. Did you use shipping containers? Please post some pictures, when you get a chance. Your NH sista, Midwinter.
I love it when dreams come true. What is the red wood in the third pic? I bet there are some really nice boxes and small cabinets hidden in there? I'm new. too. It's a fun place.
Welcome Lucy!!! Good to have you! You've stopped at the best place on the web and no place better for burning information! Sit back and enjoy the gang!
Welcome, pull up a chair and enjoy yourself here. We’ll look forward to the wood And stove and other pictures!
Thank you all for the welcome. Lucy says hi too there are a lot of lovely furries on here she would adore. Yes, the red stuff is cedar. We live on 22 acres of mostly cedar but enough other tress for good fires. The big rounds are pine, they had to come down to make room for the house. Speaking of coming down, they are all over the ground right now. Max our big lab decided to go after a packrat in there and his constant jumping pushed the whole pile over. Fortunately he was on the uphill side. Midwinter, the metal house is a metal barn with concrete slab, we are now getting ready to build it out inside. Its not really big. 30'by 50' by 10' high. A few years ago we did actually look at metal containers but they would have been difficult to get in here. We are way back from the main road and on a hill, only downside out here absolutely nothing is ever level.
I love it! Get that wood stove in there, and spend the winter on the interior, that's the plan? Are you living on site, do you have an RV or something to stay in?
welcome Lucy to the FHC seems your doing great! does wood dry in your area without being split? in your heat and pine and cedar it might..
