Yes! Get it. I loaded up on fruit wood this year to put it mildly. Apple mostly. Had some plum that was just amazing... gah that chicken was unreal. Get that stuff and keep it for your food if its that uncommon. Cherry will be excellent for you by summertime unless you don’t wanna wait.... how long was the tree blown down?
I tried getting my rounds short so when I split them, they would be perfect for the bbq. Threw lots of heat more than the briquettes if used alone but if you combine the two, it gets more under control.

It blew over last winter, property is often vacant. It still had leaves this summer so will be pretty green. Yeah I was going to buck it up short. Hope I dont hit a nail. Green cherry might be nice for the smoke after my food is cooked on my dry apple.

We try. Or if it didn’t have one there’s a reason or aftermath photo. Sometimes its just a good story. How many times did we want a photo and didn’t have it yet?

FatBoy85 thanks for taking it the right way..... after reading your next post you are saying your not afraid of snow as much as ice.. OK makes sense.. when wet heavy snow is driven on.. it turns to frozen pack ... we call what your describing as fall and spring... worse in spring because sun melts snowbanks water runs across clear dry road freezes at night.. black ice.. that can be tricky.. in country most know to leave more room between them and guy in front.. in city not as smart.. but really all cars run on 4 area probably smaller than 16 square inches of tire that touches road surface.... brakes stop your rims tires stop your car..

I routinely in winter hit my brakes and check rear view to see how guy following me is doing..

Don't know why, but I sure do have a craving for trout/salmon after reading the last couple of pages.

As far as the driving goes, I have noticed that any region where the snow falls and sticks for a while then thaws and disappears days later usually has a very uncommonly high number of the idiots FatBoy85 speaks of.

Farther north, the snow stays and freeze up occurs. It is a lot different to drive on as opposed to the heavy wet slushy or freezing rain type of conditions. Between the two, I would most definitely prefer the freeze up of months as opposed to the freeze/thaw pattern.

No matter what, you will still have a number of idiots in both places, just seems to be less of them where the conditions are constantly frozen......or in a more rural type setting. Cities must make people drive like idiots, no?

Of course, the addition of AWD drive vehicles to the availability of consumers only seems to re-enforce this!

Sitting at freezing this morning (late). Today will be into the low 40's at best; nights will be at freezing.

Then, over the weekend, the lows will be in the upper 20;s until next week. Then they will be in the low 20's. High's near or barely above freezing then.

It would appear that our extended fall is over.

Oh yeah, chance of snow every day through the weekend with snow in the forecast for next week.

Canadian border VT you’re absolutely right about the amount of tire coverage ratio to the road as opposed to total. Makes sense when you see a snowmobile outrun a 4x4 on snow. Its really a no contest.
I really could also expand on how much moisture and temp has a lot to do with it. Most of the the time when Washington gets a snow for the lowlands, it tends to have a body of warm air following it. Not always but I remember being in snows as a kid and then just to feel too warm as we played in it. Snowsuit was soaked by then. By morning the snow was either really reduced or practically gone.
Anyways we just have different snow from you based on location but it does make it treacherous. I am willing to bet that here one snow in my general area probably causes us more accidents and incidents to happen than your area all snow season. How’s that for a perspective? Most people here are just used to the rain and when that freezes to black ice, all bets are off.

Or omelet with some Gouda and Feta and a big pile of bacon and taters side and 1/2 gal coffee cup!

Edit to add a hand full of crab or lobster thrown in for good measure!

We've got a southerly blowing which brought the temps up. Looks like it may be here for a while. Good time to let the stove go out . . First time in almost 2 weeks . will shovel out ashes this evening after work . Then light it again.

Just above freezing at the moment, and waiting for the rain and snow that's apparently coming. There might be some crazy wind storms again, so we're in wait n see mode. Small poplar kindling fire to chase the chill, and bonus points for it being a light up from overnight coals, not a firestarter.:D
