Good God they must go through a lot of trees. Do they haul them in from all over the place. Would seem like they would need several places to pull from.

Hah! Do you know what type of wood they process? Is it mostly hardwood?

All hardwood according to their website. It's owned by Gish Logging. I don't know how large of an area they harvest from.

Not even going to make the comment about the stuff in the middle of the pile actually "seasoning"... ;) I guess in some ways it's just one giant Holzhausen... LOL!

It's all kiln dried. According to their web site all their wood is guaranteed to be between 8-12% moisture content.

Wow! $145 for a cord of kiln dried wood?!? A cord of firewood (probably not even seasoned for 1 yr) here in the PacNW can easily go for $200 on CL and oak is typically around $300 a cord. Can't imagine what kiln dried would be up here.

Too bad he's five hours from me! I would happily by four cords for this winter and save my stash for next year.

It's $600 for a cord of kiln dried here in the NY metro area.
I'd buy 12 cords of kiln dried for $145.

I'm lucky I can get a green cord for $200.

$199 for a cord of green wood here in central Maine. No shortage of wood around here, but the prices don't come down. Was driving in a neighborhood today where the homes are on quarter to half acre lots. I saw several homes with freshly delivered wood in their yard. Some with neat stacks of about 1 to 4 cords. Can't tell who is going to be burning pellets because those are usually put away inside.

This is from the Gish Logging website:

Softwood (pine, hemlock and fir) should only be burned outdoors. It burns and sparks more "furiously" than hardwood, it doesn't burn as long, and it puts creosote, a potentially dangerous substance, up the chimney.

Do they sell anything other than the pre-packaged bags of "hot sticks"?
