We also pulled the plug last week. We picked up a new pickup, last 2017 on the lot meeting our specs. After doing the frame off restoration of the GMC, I'm very reluctant to expose it to the sodium spray our state uses on the highways this winter. Funny how we all just accept that corrosion of our second largest investment is just part of the life/death of the vehicle. My blood, sweat and tears I put into the GMC has changed my perspective. I'll stay on top of the rust prevention on this truck from the get go. Racing red was not my choice at my age, but saving as much $$$ was.

The GMC will continue to be the pellet hauler, the Ford EcoBoost will haul the camper when we go see the National Parks out west.

Hmmm that's the color we wanted or white, yours looks great! So far everything is great just drives me crazy how it shuts itself off at intersections. I'm afraid it'll stall as I pull out in the intersection.

I realied that when I read into the link.

The issue at hand on the '08 Chevy Avalanche (125k miles on it) is oil fouling of #1 plug that caused a PO301 code / misfiring #1. I see there is a redesigned PCV valve built in the valve cover that is suppose to help with oil fouling of #1 and #7. I have not pulled 7 yet to see how it looks and can get the cover for about 100 bucks.

Also, this truck drinks oil which I am seeing might be the PCV valve issue but more likely the AFM causing oil consumption-if not engine wear.

For now, I just changed #1 plug, reset the code and its running fine again but that is just a band aid till it fouls the plug again.

Anyone with Chevy 5.3l experience that wants to chime in-I am all ears.
