I kind of like having the fresh air coming in through the windows as well. I commented to my wife how we keep the house all buttoned up when we are only using the furnace but when the wood stove is going we will open the door to the unheated garage or have a few windows open a bit. Middle of winter shes closed up good though.

Hard to improve on wood that’s ready to burn the day you get it.

The weather is taking a poop tomorrow.

Probably have to disconnect the water at the cottage this week to avoid any freeze up-lows in the 20's.

I thought we might have a fire tonight but with a low of 61, that won't happen.

I saw this coming in after supper.

Strong gusty winds will develop overnight, persisting into tomorrow.
Winds will be out of the south at 15 to 30 mph with gusts of 35 to 45
mph developing during the early morning hours. Isolated higher gusts
are possible across the North Country. These strong wind gusts will
make travel difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.

Strong gusty winds of 35 to 45 mph, with isolated higher wind gusts
possible across the North Country Tuesday. In addition, rain will
spread across the area early Tuesday morning through early Wednesday.
Rain will be heavy at times Tuesday afternoon into early Wednesday
morning. Widespread flooding is not expected but poor drainage
areas...including areas where leaves may clog drainage...could result
in isolated and minor ponding of water.

We are under a wind advisory for tomorrow with gust in the 45mph range out of the northwest. Not a good day to be in the woods.

Have you had winds in the last few days? It could be a vehicle hit a power pole. Is it 70 inside cause your burning?
Edit I guess if I read your post better Id be able to answer part of my question on my own!

Went for a drive power companies working on the pole about a half a mile down the road, couldn't tell what the problem was they'll probably have it fixed in a couple hours or something, fairly large area without power

Its pretty mild tonight at 1c but even so the stove was lit around 7 pm about the time I got home from work. I have 2600 sq ft to heat so a lit stove is often a must. Stove top is a modest 565F when this pic was taken a short while ago. My husky will do anything to stay with her people even if she gets warm, and being invited on the new couch is to her like being elevated to people status.

Secondaries are going good but not a lot of blue flame at this point. Doug fir and lodgepole pine on deck.

Used to be common place for kids to need halloween costumes that would fit over their snow suits because it was always 30 below on halloween.
If the Gubmint would stop playing with the weather. We would be back to that. The forecast is for it wo warm up and rain later in the week.
    I hope NOT!!!!
Freeze up is really a great thing here.

FatBoy85 Cold Trigger Finger is just down the road from me, its not winter here either, were getting there slowly. I personally don't consider it winter until all the rivers are frozen and I can easily access the wilderness. I have subsistence hunting, wood to harvest, and ice fishing to do, and freeze up makes life so much easier. Especially the ice fishing part, liquid water is tough on the ice fishing gear.:faint::mad:
