great selection of shot guns in this thread. for the uneducated and especially being down under, can y'all please tell me what country some of these guns are made in? please. im interested to learn does quality vary from manufacturers or does it vary from country to country? cheers blokes love reading these posts. cheers
The old Brownings were made in Belgium, Remington's and Mossberg's are made in here in the U.S. and the Benelli's are being produced in Italy. All that have been mentioned are of good quality. The Browning's had a lot of hand fitted parts and come from an era of pride and quality manufacturing, for sure. Just my opinion, but Remington quality seems to have slipped since they are now owned by a large conglomerate called " Freedom Group". The Mossberg's, I believe, still are a good common sense working mans gun that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Benelli's are known to be of very high quality and you will pay for that!
These are Ithaca Deer Slayers in 12 and 20 the 20 has the bird barrel on it these are from the 70's the slug barrels were smooth back then , we shot rifled slugs back then . Both of them put plenty of meat in the freezer .
To tell the truth I’m not sure now. I haven’t shot it since I started having health trouble two years ago.
Love those Ithaca’s, and we still use rifled slugs! Killed my first gun season deer 65 yards full run out of an bird barrel with an improved cylinder and a 2 3/4” Remington slugger. That was when they were $1.50 a box now I think there almost $5!! Our area is still only allowed shotgun for deer. The next county over is allowed rifle which is sort of scary!
Our camp was down in Olean we were about 6 miles thru the woods to the PA border all rifle over there shot guns for us , no big deal out to about 75 yds them Ithaca's deadly accurate and that's a big hunk of lead flying thru the air , my pop's used to call slugs pumpkin balls .
I have 2 Ihcica's a 12 I bought for my self and a 20 I bought for my dad's 75 birthday. I love them both a lot. Al
Our camp is on the PA side pretty close to that! As for the pumpkin balls I’ve heard them referred to as that a few times
Very nice. Back in another time I use to hunt the Moshannon state Forrest just above Bradford,Pa. small world. I need to drag a nice little Winchester model 42 she is a .410. Will give the history of that little gem at picture time.
Nice guns.......look very similar to the Remington 1100, don't they. Sent from my SM-S320VL using Tapatalk
