    Here’s the scoop....
We just got back from vacation in steamy Florida on Friday and I’ve been dying to get at the wood pile!:hair: It’s cooled down and it’s my favorite time of year and favorite time for hoarding. Prior to leaving I did a quick ash tree job for a family neighbor brought home this 505C6B99-5BA7-491C-A555-E9758056FF78.jpeg

Then proceeded to split and stack the rest of what I had cut and waiting as well as clean up the processing area. :D Great ! Now I get back and want some trigger time:saw: and some splitter time :axe:but I’m out on the 5 year plan and am getting concerned about what to do with more wood :headbang:. Have I over hoarded myself?o_O Last year I only used 2 cord or a touch more. Currently sitting on around 15 cord css and 3-3 1/2 more to process plus more that is around to :saw::tree:
Ready for this year ~2 cord BA2BB11B-775B-4588-9D8E-08CD7BC5BF89.jpeg
~2 cord uglies andbthe short stack on the left ready, the 4 racks next year 70218B40-D98E-4219-B701-6F1556E7F62F.jpeg
~4 cord the 6 rows from left could be ready this year end two next year 7A21CFC6-3E38-4CD8-8CA4-4DA9229C858A.jpeg
~5 cord next year and two years out towards the front 95FD5D5F-FBFB-4DE1-83A9-AAD84C4C486F.jpeg
1 cord from the neighbor first on this years burn list it’s got 5 years on it! 0F1FB475-08E2-402D-9A1B-BADE64D042FD.jpeg
Two years out maybe ~1/3 cord 78CEF374-D6A3-40E5-A8A0-4BD067A25435.jpeg
Two piles like this to cut up and mainly stack (pretty small) ~2 1/2 cord? CA068AD6-E2CD-4426-A7E9-D0BD9B88776F.jpeg Any suggestions?:sherlock:

Find a fellow FWH on here near you in need of some wood and then show them the ropes on scrounging.

If you are that far ahead maybe find a local family in need and donate a cord. We help out a few old times that can barely carry split wood in their house but love to burn. Gave two older families each a cord this year. They were more than appreciative and I felt great doing it.

Hoard on J. Dirt ! Nice work getting so far ahead. I'm for helping someone else out if there's a chance you can do it.
Maybe sell some so you can keep making room to process? If you enjoy doing it it's not really work, and it could offset the cost of your operational expenses. Just my .02

That’s my thought to put a stack out at the road. I’d love to help out someone too if I find someone.. I wish someone in my family burned wood! Maybe it’s time for a stove in the garage?!

I tend to get 4-5 years ahead also. That's when I sell 2-3 cords well seasoned for $250.00 per. they pick it up. I get asked every year by someone looking for SEASONED wood as there is no such thing from the regular suppliers.

yes to stove in garage.. reach out to veterans.. if they been deployed easy to fall behind on wood. stop at your local food shelf ask if they hear something give ya a call.. Church official even if you don't go there they hear things and will help out. personally I tend to get a lot of kindling (furniture store scraps).. I make boxes of kindling I give to elderly I know they no longer heat with wood but like small fires on holidays plus they pay well.. cookies muffins etc etc

    J. Dirt I would definitly buy some of that seasoned wood from you. I just paid $200.00 for a face cord. MC was between 40-15%. I had to resplit a bunch of the splits and separate the lower moisture content wood from the higher content so I know what I can burn in my fireplace in the next month or so.

Warning to J Dirt & anyone else thinking about giving away wood or anything else to those in need!!!!! I did just that years back, I was on a very tight supply, & a mother with 2 kids & an absentee deadbeat husband had no other heat source. I figured they were worse off than me, I dropped off 2 cord to get them through. I had to scramble a bit to make the winter, but no big deal. All of a sudden, phone calls came in about downed trees, free wood, fence rows on farms, you name it. If you plan on helping someone, be prepared for the results! I've got a lifetime supply of firewood for the taking, more calls all the time for places to cut etc. The same thing has happened when helping out folks that may not be able to afford a car repair, help them out a bit & suddenly my parking lot fills up with good paying jobs the next day.

Moral of the story: If you plan on doing a good deed, BE PREPARED FOR THE CONSEQUENCES THEY CAN BE OVERWHELMING.

So many great options posted above! The great thing is that you enjoy CSSing, so no matter what you do with it it's not a bad choice.

Maybe find homes for 4 cords- 2 for sale (an extra $400-500 is nice with Christmas holiday season coming up), and 2 to families that could benefit. I love the idea of calling the local Reserve/National Guard station, and ask them if there is anyone deployed whose wife/kids could use some wood. If no one nearby, I'm sure there are some elderly folks on fixed incomes that would be grateful for a few stacks.

You can always count on the FHC to help you spend your money, utilize your resources, or give advice in general! :salute:

Maybe I can help here. That boombox is utilizing way too much space. Relocate it somewhere more appropriate (like your shoulder, for instance), and BAM.......more wood storage.
    You're welcome. :rofl: :lol::picard:

Selling some perfectly seasoned wood for a very high price could help feed your need for more toys.
Helping others would be good too.
    Great ideas, guys!

I was waiting for someone to comment on that !
 :thumbs: The rack it’s on is a little moveable one that usually goes on the porch it’s almost like bookends so it’s expandable I usually set to half a face for when I get stuck working a lot so my wife doesn’t have to go out to the barn.
By the way how did you know I usually shoulder that bad boy and jam to some serious tunes while splitting?! :dex: I think it may be time to change the eight D batteries it takes though:p
