I just finished up installing prefinished oak flooring in the 2nd floor of my home. There is a fair amount of cut offs and rejected boards. What do you say burn it or toss it? Probably won't get much real heat but may work as kindling. Side note: There is no cat or secondaries in my stove.
My buddy did a prefinished hickory floor in his kitchen this summer. All the scrap cut offs went into the fire pit. That stuff burned great, and hot!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Only if your air ain’t set right..... creosote sticks at a certain point of condensation. @ a little under 200°F’s, near the top of the chimney. If the entire chimney is exterior to the house, you might see cool temps a lot further down. Just be careful Warner, no matter what!
I have burned pre finished. My stove is a non cat. I sweep the chimney once a month and I can honestly say I have never noticed anything adverse. I don’t throw away BTU’s.
Wow! Monthly is a bit odd. We used to have to clean often but never that often. Now we can go years thanks to burning good dry wood and having a great stove.
Ya might be a little OCD there but makes the wife feel better. I can tell you that even with an interior masonry chimney @ 30 feet tall when it’s colder than -15 the top of the chimney is below 100F and the top 3-5 feet of the chimney will crisote pretty well. I leave a ladder leaning on the roof and have made a 2x4 ladder that stays on the roof. It’s a 5 minute job.
Wood doesn’t get any drier than what I have. I cut standing dead from the 1995 forest fire we have super low humidity to boot. I burn around 20 cords a winter.
