help me deck out a 562XP

    i think im finally ready to bite the bullet on this thing.
    first of all, thoughts on wrap handle? havent seen much discussion on this.
    B&C: was thinking to get a an 18" and a 24" with a skip or semi-skip to use on occasion. less than 25% of my cutting would call for this. well then i thought why not get a 20" and a 28" so when i feel up to buying a techlite then that transition might be a bit easier. now i am thinking will it oil enough for a 28"? i know the 28" is much for a 60cc, but there may be porting down the road or even a larger saw that might wear it.
    i have a homelite XL and had an 066 that had since gone to bits. so this saw is "replacing" the 066 that was 50% bigger. it was really nice, but honestly more saw than i need right now. half of my cutting is oak. the rest black birch, black locust, and ash. with an occasional tulip poplar that falls on its own accord. all wood is clean.

    If I was going to deck one out the first thing I would do is send it straight to the monkey for a little workover and then give us a full report!

    Thats the next piggy bank i will start. Right now i need a saw to get some wood cut as soon as the snow melts.

    First thing I would do is trade it for a Stihl MS362.

    Personally, I don't care for the wrap handles on a smaller saw like the 562XP. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me for a saw where one of it's main features is it's light weight and excellent handling/balance characteristics. If it was mine? I would do the 20" Techlite bar right out of the gate. You will have no desire for a smaller bar on that machine with the TechLite on there. Get an outer bucking spike for it, keep the flush (1/2-wrap) handle. I've run a 562XP with a 28" Techlite and a wrap handle. It was muffler modded IIRC and pulled the 28" just fine. But I really prefer 70cc+ for 28" bars.

    You keeping that 066 for a rainy day?

    Congrats! (Even on the thought process, that's the first step...). I dont know enough yet to start spending your money wisely....:rofl: :lol:.... But being conservative, I'd stay with the regular handle, MM it, and add a outer spike to it. Then if you want more power, I'd look at port job. I've got a MS362 being ported currently... Cant wait to try it.

    The 562 is a mean machine. Do you have an assortment of bars for your 066? A simple adapter can make those bars fit the 562? I know a guy who sells them pretty cheap. If you have a 20", 25", or 28" for your 066 it will save you some coin..

    I would just buy the standard 562xp. No wrap or G model.

    Techlite makes that much of a difference huh? Dealer says he never sold any.
    I am reluctant to get rid of that 066. I really enjoyed running it. However i dont know when i might get around to messing with it. I will get some pics ober to you.

    None of the light bars sell as well as the traditional bars due to the fact that they are roughly 2x the $$. Now that I have a 28" ES Light on the 441, I wouldn't consider a regular ES if a light were available in the same size. Unfortunately Stihl doesn't make the ES Light in 24" and under so my 20" is a wide-nose version of a traditional ES bar.

    There is always the aftermarket for light bars too. I have not had the opportunity to play with any of them however.

    I wouldn't mind a 562 with a 3/4 wrap and pulling a 28" lightweight bar. Ported and stuff.
