Probably not much BTU value when dried out, the smoke is unbearable. Too little BTU for the work involved. Stinkin' varmints...

We love our 06 jetta also!
Averaged over 50 mpg going to SC and back a couple years ago. Its starting to show its age now. 210,000 miles with very little repairs.

    Today's car hoard...
Some CSSD wood( cut, split, seasoned, and discarded), someone's uglies, and down at the bottom, an overlooked mulberry log about 5 feet long. IMG_20171013_0418.jpg

You're like the ever ready rabbit - you hoard on, and on, and on.

Yet another decent looking load. Good for you.

    Hoard on!

It takes a lot of car loads to get to 3 cords a year.

Nice of you to use a tarp for your ride, too!

Wow mine is right around 207,000. Amazing. I've noticed some rust spots starting under the paint. For the most part it's solid and I think it should get 10 more years. Just had the timing belt done at 190k. Brakes will be next and then struts/shocks.

It can be done. I gathered wood for three years with a Pontiac Vibe. Approx 20 cord total, 1/2 face cord at a time (full car) - probably overloaded.

    I have a truck now

Yes, but if you're going past "The Spot" anyways to and from work, it's not costing extra in money or time. It's all situational, right?

Yes, got a 5 x 10, but sometimes it's just simpler to hoard with the car. Backing a trailer into a tight muddy spot (with a car) sometimes puts ya in an unnecessary situation.

Right, I'm going past the dump at least twice a day.

I'm getting picky... a couple silver maple rounds, a few oak splits, and a couple apple limbs. I could have filled my car with silver maple, but I'm too behind on my splitting. IMG_20171017_7922.jpg

You left what? :bug: Are you feeling ok? There's plenty time left for splitting. ~smile~

Oh wait.. It just clicked.. you're leaving it for Mwalsh9152 to scrounge. Got it. How nice of you.

Trying to hook Mwalsh9152 up with some sweet silver maple, that's the plan!
He has a job, though, poor whippersnapper!
