Today, the town decided to cut trees on the road behind our house. I went and asked if I could take some, and they said come get it before someone else does. Got the van, my son, and was able to make a couple loads. One more load was added after this pic.

Looks like maybe white ash, white oak, and beech? Could be the holy trinity!

Nice catch of rounds you got there. Looks like a mixture of different woods? I think the one with deep bark might be black locust..

In the load that's not in the pic we got mostly Ash. What's there is some maple, walnut, and a cut up small junk tree that will be kindling. There is mostly one tree which I'm not sure of. I'll take a pic tomorrow of a round. I'm hoping it isn't the dreaded ELM! About 70% of it is that wood.

We got most of the good wood at noon. Couldn't get back there till after 5, and it was pretty well picked over. Got lucky and found the ash way off the road and almost in the woods. This was all literally 100 yds. behind the house.

The Ash wasn't in that pic. There could be some White Oak. Unfortunately, no Beech.

You know, that actually might be a couple pieces of Ash that I thought wasn't in there. I'd like it to be locust, though.

It's just that it's happened to me, and I was just waiting to use it on someone.

At least 2 of us. :)

I remember waiting about five years to nail someone with one I got nailed with. I laughed for about ten minutes even though everyone else didn't think it was that funny.

Thanks, but it might get sweeter if I can buck up the logs they left there. Gonna go take a look later on.
