Following Mastermind's grandson build thread on the rice burner 660 over at OPE the linked to the kit at HL and it's $235. If I had the cash to play with I'd get one. No reason though really and I don't need to see how good it does as there so many of you other guys doing that for me right now! Haha Still a hack of a deal for the guy that wants a 90 cc saw for the one or 2x a year he needs it .
I finally got a chance to run my 660 some more. I ran another tank through it Monday for a total of 3 tanks now. It really likes gas. It cut 4 logs, around a 1/2 cord on a tank. I wish it had more power. I added a 9/16 hole in the muffler baffle yesterday and that did not seem to do anything. I think the outlet was holding it back so I added another outlet. I put it on the left side. I was going to use a deflector I had on the front but before I spent the time making it work I removed the front cover and started it. I was really loud, so I think a front outlet is not an option. Hopefully this let it breathe and run better. Currently it seems equal to a MS660 with a dual port.
The dual port muffler from the factor is on the front. I cut the cage out of my muffler inside and increased the factory hole and added the dual port cover. It's louder and seems to have more power as well. The factory stihl hole is like the size of a pencil. The Chinese seem to put larger outlets on the mufflers as they build them so they should do better and run rrally well with the current muffler setup. Now I have not seen this muffler on this saw, just Comparing it to the Chinese 372 mufflers I have and the other Chinese saw mufflers I have run.
I built this for the build off at Randys gtg. I believe it turned out well for what I paid for it. Longevity to be seen.
Rod looks a lil toasty...and the gap of the wrist pin clips is in the 3 Oclock position...I was taught to put the gap at 6 or 12 to ensure the clip doesn't "compress" and work its way out at high RPM
brenndatomu I hope yours does not have a failing rod bearing. Breaking the crank rope may be an indication.
Did it sound funny? Or idle poorly, anything? They usually have some sort of symptoms... I did break my starter rope but that has been a common complaint with the chinese starter rope, especially with base gasket delete...and I haven't been using the decomp valve either. Ran fine for almost a tank of fuel after that too.
