    Awesome thread !!
I just came home with a Timber Champ 7 ton baby splitter today. Couldn't find much for splitters in town this time . 1 week past PFDs showing up in most Alaskan's bank accounts.
I tried it out soon as I got my wife's new kitchen range off loaded and in the house . And unboxed the splitter , put the front legs on . plugged it in and split 2 good size rounds. They were too long for the bed of the Champ. So I stood them up vertical and split thru sidew ways. I didn't know if it would work. It did ! Anyway thanks to your thread I had some confidence that a kinetic splitter was a very viable option. Even tho the 7 ton Timber Champ us tiny compared to yours. I can always upgrade to a Split Second in the future.
I see what appears to be a conveyor in the last couple pics. Imo a mandatory feature for processing wood. Way to go !!

By the way, putting the little splitter higher will make a big difference. Last year I split everything kneeling down. Everyone kept telling me to put the splitter higher so I got out one of my little platforms and put the splitter up on top of it. It made all the difference in the world.

If you can, I would like to see a video of your little Timber Champ in action.

I'd like to have a timber champ. I'm not sure I need one but it would be neat for splitting kindling. They look like they work really well from the videos I have seen of them. There was a problem with the early timber champs. I think the rack was bending on them. I remember reading about a guy having one and not using it for a long time. Then the first time he used it he bent the rack. Timber Champ sent him a new rack. So it sounds like they are good to deal with.

Thanks! I just got the conveyor this summer. I'll have a thread on it soon. I'm working on videos of it.

    Thanks!

does anyone have experience with multiple Kinetic splitters? I'm thinking of selling the 27t hydro and buying a kinetic. DR, Supersplit, Oregon, Woodmaxx???
My faave so far is the Woodmaxx LS-34t it has a regular 8"wedge, a larger ram plate, larger tires.....only drawback so far is the tongue does not swing away

The split second has a 7'' wedge. What is the bed height on the Woodmax?

When I got home from work today . I put one of my platform boxes down and put the splitter on it. It really did help a lot. I'm actually very impressed with this splitter so far. I'm splitting 18"-20" long wood. And It just wangs them thru the wedge. A couple times I had to give a couple kinda gnarly stringy cottonwood round a second wack . But most of the time the split stroke is less than 1 second. Pretty much just bang and its thru. I need to make a discharge chute so I don't spend so much time bending over and tossing the splits into the shed.

I need some sort of table for mine. Today splitting some large rounds I had half of one to fall on my foot. I was wearing steel toe boots but that is still a bother. Plus, with a table, I don't have to bend over to load the half, it will be sitting on the table.

That would work great. Thank you. !
One other thing it would do is give room to put wheel barrow wheels and tires on it.
I know this was built so it could be stored in a shed or garage and take up the least amount of space. And it does that very well. Being able to wheel the splitter around without it falling over all the time would be very nice tho. And get it up around waist height.
I plan on building a chute out of 2×4s and an old piece of roofing metal. I don't know that the splitter will advance all the wood in it , but it might. And , the splits would be right there for resplitting.

I thought about going to Harbour Freight and getting some of their cheap pneumatic tyres for my little electric splitter to make it easier to drag out of the shed.

I think it is 2' or less. It looks pretty judging by the tires. It does not look to me twice as high as the tires. I'm guessing 22.'' I also noticed the lever is different than any other kinetic splitter I have seen. You have to pull forward on the lever. I'm not sure if that would be awkward or not.

A work table will make it way more productive and user friendly.
