It's just a motorcycle with a roof that needs no balancing. Period. A toy at best.

And a steering wheel, and completely different steering geometry. Not quite as similar as you think. It really only shares the wheel configuration.

Actually, no, it's a front wheel drive subcompact car but only half as wide as standard cars and much lighter, to cut down on wind resistance and weight.

It takes advantage of the fact that three wheel vehicles are titled as motorcycles in the USA so that it doesn't have to abide by auto regulations, thus saving weight.

Front engine, front wheel drive, automotive running gear, automotive controls, windows, seats, air bags, seat belts, A/C, cruise, power windows. All attributes of cars, not bikes.

The only thing it's got similar to a motorcycle is the single rear wheel.

Can Ams are rear wheel drive. This is front wheel drive. This thing is going to drive and handle like a car, not a bike. Can Ams ride more like a cross between a snowmobile and a go cart than a bike or a car. (I've put a few miles on my sister in law's Can Am.)

And doesnt have to adhere to crash tests as its a "motorcycle" saves on R&D as well.

They are still shooting for five star crash ratings though. The whole car only costs $6800 and technically it's titled as a motorcycle so it should be cheap to insure too.

I didn't mean to giVe you a false impression. I just ignored your post because you cherry picked your data and didn't seem it worthy of a response.

I could find some fancy youtube videos to support my case. I could also show you that my center of mass is way higher, but you're not really interested in facts.

    a false impression .

And a Smart Car is significantly better?

    It's essentially an enclosed Can-Am.

Will you need a motorcycle endorsement on your license to drive a Elio ?
If so , and you have to obtain the endorsement in the traditional way , many people will not buy it for that reason
I like it , and wouldn't have a problem driving the 900lb vehicle , my bike weighed about 700lbs, and the heater sucked, so did the windshield wipers, the air worked well though :D

Even tho the little car is technically classified as a motorcycle, Elio has been granted exceptions for licensing (no need to get a motorcycle license or you would get a restricted license much like some states do for the Can-Am Spyder and sidecar bikes/trikes) and helmet laws.
