I really like the Husqvarna pants. They are expensive but are pretty comfortable.

I bought my saw chaps at the local Menard's. $35. I don't know what you have in Indiana, but I'm certain you can find a pair of chaps reasonably.

We have Menards, and that's where I bought my chaps. They have cheap bar oil as well.

This makes a lot of sense for your first saw. Starting with a new bar/chain, sprocket, clutch and everything else will allow you to know it had no problems & teach you to realise when something isn't doing what it should. Buy new and not to big, 40-50cc saws can cut a lot of wood fast.

You can. Just have to keep adjusting the height as you sharpen.

Yes. It's just limited with the angles you can do. And as the tooth gets shorter they change.

Matt , look here Labonville Store | Forestry Tools | Chainsaw Chaps Manufacturer for chaps . Pretty good variety . And, yes chaps and foot protection may seem expensive . But compare it to a hospital visit and they get sort of reasonable .
I had to learn to where PPE the hard way ,like a lot of folks . Or, as they say “experience ,that thing you get right after you need it ! “.
