I have been thinking of getting a Fiskars pickaroon for a while now. Just not sure if its long enough for me. I am 6' tall and am wanting one to help unload the truck.
I really use my pickaroon A lot more then I ever thought I would. I also like log tongs. One set of log tongs had to be sharpened to work very well. Happy birthday and congrats on the new tools
I tend to use the Peavy more, but the Fiskars works great as well. I have an 8' (9' with the lift extension) and I can not make it to the last 2 feet or so, still have to climb in. Of course that would change if I took the side rails off.
Happy late birthday MikeyB Shoot, I’ve used a three prong rake to wrestle splits/rounds outa the back of the truck... Just don’t let them hit the ground
Am 6' here and my 30" Logrite (same as Stihl, made by Logrite for Stihl) only cheaper is the perfect length to sweep and pick up splits for my height-you can empty a 6' bed with it but will have to get few from the side against the cab-Plus it's just the right size and weight to serve as my staff or sceptor if you will to police my stacks at all hours of day & night...I hear Eric VW does the same under cover of darkness somewhat scantily clad
I purposefully didn't say the word "th--g" cause when you do he magically and tragically appears to project troublesome imagery...It's like saying Beetlejuice 3 times...
Got the new tools today. Tried them out one a couple of chunks tonight when I got home from my sons football practice. I have to say I really like the feel of these especially the pickaroon. Nice and light also. Log Tongs work great as well. I can see myself using these a lot more than I expected. One of the log tongs was a little stiffer than the other. I sprayed it down with a little WD-40 hoping that frees it up a bit. Well worth the money...
Strap those babies on your belt and you'll be a Log Slinger I ordered one of these log hooks from Amazon, got it yesterday, we will see if it works as good as a pulp hook or not.
Log tongs have to be one of my most used items next to the actual saw itself. I have 8'' and a 12'' tongs. I carry the 8'' in my back pocket or tool pouch when limbing, cutting, etc and they are so handy to move and drag limbs and work well to pick up pieces after they are split. The 12'' tongs will grab a surprisingly large round to haul to the splitter or to load in the truck, especially if there is bark for the teeth to catch. Wonderful back savers......worth every penny.
If you're having any problems grabbing barkless wood, sharpen the ends, points , I had to sharpen mine
Yes sir, I did touch em up a bit and that helped. Good ole Oak and Elm that is dry is some hard stuff, though.
