Brought my last load of dry oak on the back porch this morning, It might last a week. I have burn't enough wood this year to last almost two years. A lot of it was three year old red elm and it went fast. All I have is very green wood now, so guess the heater will get used some. It was 17 here this morning with an inch of solid ice on the ground. Sure hope it warms up fast, propane is not cheap.

We split 2 more cords than last year ..just because we wanted extra . Down to about 3 weeks worth left . Got some really good dead standing stuff cut and split..ready to mix in..might extend things a bit . Never thought about running out this year...go figure :(

Average temps should be several degrees warmer......but who's gonna' make that happen?
I'll take the upper 20's to mid-30's over what we've been dealing with.
I'm in process of moving the Maple and Pine out of the front r/h side of the shed to access the Oak that was to be used next year.
I hope to not need much of the 1.5 cord that's there, but I feel the need to get to it before I might need it.

Me too, at least by April. Hope it's a normal year. I remember March 31, 2001 into April 1st… 24" of heavy wet snow in western Maine. We had plowed no sweat all of 7 years at our farm… but this storm was bad. Snow had melted a lot that March too. Ground wasn't frozen anymore. It SUCKED. Had to get a buddy to use his front end loader. He'd push ahead and 20' of snow in front would pack up and he'd slide it away. He had piles almost as high as the roof, from practically none the day before. My GMC plow just about stood on it's nose when I slammed into that first pile of concrete. I really like snow, but it'll be just fine if we never have to deal with 3/31/01 again.

If you are referring to Alaska
April is about " the norm". For Spring & end of burn season

    5" of new snow ,
    March in like a lion!

I learned my lesson with not having enough wood too. Now I have 2 additional cords on standby just in case, they end up being the next years wood thats first in the fire.
