I know this is not what you had in mind but it does have a trailer and it's fun to post pictures of firewood! I call this the glory days of firewood! These pictures were taken about 25 years ago . Three other logging truck drivers and myself with the permission of the company were allowed to go out to a setting and get firewood and off-load it in an old gravel pit close to the community for the residents' firewood needs. Myself in the picture. This was the first load that I had ever hauled solo. I also loaded and unloaded the trucks.
Rules of the place are that any logs or wood has to be 4' and shorter. They have a massive splitter mounted on the end of an end loader that they pick up the big logs with and split them. If you look, you can see some massive pieces that look like they have been split. Still 4' or so long but have been split. Ive hauled probably a dozen trailer loads of ash, hard maple, oak, cherry, hackberry and have even found some hickory every now and again. Mostly ash.. There are thousands of ash trees around here that are being cut by the city.
I don't know how the wood weighs out there but that has to be in the 75 to 100 ton range. Edit: Looking back at that pic I wouldn't be surprised iF it were 150 tons looking at that length

They dump plenty of wood but don't cut it up Oak 2-3ft diameter in various lengths all jumbled up cannot use a chainsaw on town property here I went a few times and gave up. I think the workers there get a kick out of making it hard for scroungers
If difficult to extract wood from the dump pile, then why bother? Unless town employees cut onsite, or, just there for their entertainment Sent from my SM-T280 using Tapatalk

none here either tree companies don't give away wood here.. chips are 20 a ton at woodchip electrical plant 20 miles away.. nice logs to furniture companies ... firewood css and sold 250 cord delivered... called winter work
local dump you put in but not take out - turn it all into mulch that they give away. Now if I had a real good way to compress the mulch significantly ................
Its easy at my local dump and its just on the other side of town. You can come across some real duck heads out there though.
My stepfather bought this for something else but I use it for wood hauling. It's pretty stout,no suspension and 15" tires.
Picked up some green and severely heavy locust the other day... Been to tired, lazy, wore out, bummed, and relaxed to start unloading it until just about an hour ago.
Just got a new truck and trailer. f250, crew cab, 8' box and 83' x 18' trailer, 5200 axels and cross members on 12" centers. This is the 1st load, went pretty conservative on weight. Could have put on another half cord after unloading and getting a figure. This is about 1 cord.
