We've got a pretty fair crop of apples coming along this year. Mrs Papi is planning to do apple sauce, pie filling, and some loaves of apple bread for the freezer.

Does anyone have any other canned apple recipes they'd like to share? We usually give away the surplus, which we'll do some of as well, but with her being at home full time now (and me with a new job requiring about fifteen fewer hours per week between work and commute time) there's a little more time to process and we'd like to see if there's any more variety to be had. :)

Well we make apple butter too. Nice stuff that uses up a lot of apples. You can can it or just put in jars and freeze it.

    What's your apple bread recipe?

Get a cider press. I put up 70 or 80 gallons this year.

Apple butter and cider are good ideas - thanks! I will get the bread recipe from Mrs Papi and post it up. Good stuff for sure.

Finished up a few loaves of bread and a mess of apple butter last night. Here is the bread recipe. This stuff is Freakin great! Just don't fill your loaf pans too full, it tends to bubble over pretty hard around the edges sometimes.

Just finished up eight jars of apple butter. Lids have popped into place, labeling tomorrow. Wife used a little extra cinnamon and dark brown sugar instead of light. Will be great to give some as gifts and tear into the rest on cold winter mornings.

Need to get back up on the hill and harvest some more apples!

I am wondering if I will have much to put up this year. Had a couple storms and one good shot of hail that really knocked the stuffing out of the apple crop. I was hoping to try coring and sectioning apples and trying to can them like my spiced crab apples, never tried it this way. But we will see if I can hunt some down.

Got another cart load of apples off the hill today, some will go to the cellar for lunch accessories, the rest will be our pie filling crop I believe. Loves me some Apple pie, and Mrs Papi makes a great one!

I jumped on it! Someone I work with said they got missed by the hail and had a good crop, come get some if you like. Ended up with around 4 bushels. Best ones are at the top right?

If you get a stepladder on the top, you can reach the highest apples!

I'm not much of a ladder person, but good on ya for getting it done! I let the top apples fall and get 'em that way. ;)

Yep, we do too. Got a few gallon bags full with tasty snacks, and more going as we speak. We usually dust with cinnamon and sugar, but tried ginger powder and sugar on the last batch - very good. The ginger doesn't really come through if you take it easy, it just makes the chips taste more "apply."
