Yeah well heat does interesting things to make compounds different. Im doing this when my daughter isnt here too so safety first.

Yes wildwest we had some fun for s little while. Im looking forward to the whole thing really. I would feel better knowing that the heat in my house isn't going out like sending barrel fulls of money out a 64 story. Best knowing that I can open my window and Im not being wasteful in terms.
HDRock, sorry I forgot to tell you that yes the installers will be bringing in the stove pipe. I have this opportunity to get it put in and by all honesty Im not wanting to F this up. Insurance-wise and just life being busy enough where I don't have a whole lot of time to do all that on my own. So installation is coming. I forgot to put in that the install will be on the 16th!

 

What I was talking about was lighting fires and getting your stove cruising after you get it installed

 

Ah ok yeah I would rather find the sweet spot sooner than later. So we'll see how this progress goes. All in the learning curve for newbies no? Nobody has my stove on here. Not that I am aware of...but the closest ones are the ones with napoleons, 1100's and 1400's if I recall...

 

EPA tube stoves are pretty much the same, light wood on fire, regulate the air

Every stove, every setup is different,, but the basics are still the same

So here's the second fire. Much longer, much warmer burn. Believe it or not that damm stove pipe just popped off and almost landed on my head..twice. I was thinking about screwing it in but this was entirely experimental as a burn. Right now im in the sweet spot with 350-400F (~200C Sean )on the stove top. Running her to a middle burn here and we'll just let her go in a little while.
Still have opened and closed the door and now I have it where the door is just cracked and the door lock itself is just resting in on the inside flange.

 

Don't forget to read the manual, and read it some more. Then, read the manual again. I still thumb back through my manual to check things just in case I read it wrong.

 

Oh yeah ive read it many many times. Kept the temps to steady temps,while
I won't recite it here, nothing has been anywhere near 500-600. Actually Im having a hard time thinking its possible right now since what I am seeing is a good blaze but because I haven't installed the baffle or the pipe isnt there to help the draft. Also I should note its not cold out. Only 50 right now. So one can only gather that it would likely burn better if it were 20 colder. But seeing how this is burning, I get that its finicky for the first few.

 

Thanks for tagging me in this FatBoy85 as I wasnt aware of this conversation. Exciting times! Good you are doing some smaller fires so you can help cure the paint on the stove. Did I read correctly that the installer is coming on the 16th? Hope that time goes by quickly lol.

 

All in due time...one can be patient when the weather is still nice enough! Just following the best I can from the writ. I noticed you had been watching from time to time so I hoped youd join in soon. Anyways normally I could have put this into the stove thread I had this at before. It needed a bit of renewal, so I'll post there mostly for the install at this point and perhaps some finishing touches as well. The method here for the stove is to drive out the moisture out of this brick and it says to burn hot, its just likely to not do that for quite some time. (30-40 hours of hot fires)Im also wondering if this applies to everyones stove when they haven't burned in it for months?? Moisture comes back into the brick and you gotta wait a couple weeks again?

 

Not as far as I know. I just let er rip when the season comes around.
