What did they do to the saw this time? Did they refund any of your money from the past attempts at repairing?

I'd be less than happy with that ,Ralph . I think you need to contact some folks at Stihl that are upstream of the folks you have been dealing with .

    Okay, here's where we stand.

Stihl's regional manager told me the saw was newer than I thought and could still be under warranty, however the dealer failed to register the sale with Stilh and I didn't have the original bill of sale so no warranty.

This morning I contacted the dealer who sold the saw to me and ask him to check his records. He found that they had only registered one of the 2 saws, the 362, I purchased that day and failed to register the 661.:picard:

He promptly entered the saw into the Stihl data base. Because I purchased oil with the saw I received the extended two year warranty. That warranty has another 2 weeks left on it! :handshake:

When I went into the dealer that 'fixed' the saw I asked them to recheck the Stihl data base. Sure enough the saw was in there and the $200+ repair bill became a no charge repair bill!:dex:

I'm still going to have to work things out with Stihl, the dealer who sold the saw and the other dealer who 'fixed' it for $100+ repair of couple of months ago. That dealer told me because it wasn't registered at the time of repair he couldn't refund the money for that repair.

So, the saw is in the back seat, I'm in Panera Bread having a bagel and tea and typing this and I still have no clue if the saw works!

To top it off, it's raining, for the first time in almost a month, so I guess I won't konw if it runs until I get to Walt's on Friday evening.:picard:

So far the saw had a fuel mixing solenoid, intake boot and coil replaced.:tears:

Did you post a pic on here or have a thread when you bought the saw? That would be a way to get the purchase date.

It's not a problem now, the Stihl dealer from whom I purchased the saw had a record of my purchase. I think the earlier repair will be reimbursed in a few days.

That's unacceptable to me! You need to talk to someone higher up. They need to make this right. That's like 1/5 the price of a new one

    So this story continues.....

I phoned Stilh C.S. after I got home with the saw, after all it's raining so I can't cut wood and try it so I might as well bug Stihl the problems.

Mike from customer service said he would be happy to phone the dealer who fixed the saw and explain the situation to them. He said the saw was definitely under warranty back in July when it was fixed for over a little over $100 out of my pocket. He then ask if I wanted a full refund or a store credit. I said either would be fine, as I can always use new 'wood gettin stuff' or dough. So I should be hearing back from Mike before the day is over.

The story is almost over and it sounds like it will have a happy ending....if the saw works!

I'm glad stihl is hopefully taking care of this. They need, and I would if I was a rep comp you something for all the trouble, and lost use of your saw. I don't think a small handheld blower or ms170 would be out of the question if I was them. At a minimum a hat and a case of oil (bar or 2 stroke)!!!

IME if a Stihl will run , it will run just fine in the rain. . ok , sorry for the wise acre comment.
I didn't get the whole thread read. And I have no experience with the new computerized saws. However. ,, from your description of the problem. Its either spark or fuel.
I see u have a new coil . so , I'm thinking that saw has a faulty tank vent. Or at least if it was a 660 or an 066 ect. That would be the other problem that manifests from what you described .

Yep got every dime back as of Friday morning 10/6/20

The saw got a new fuel mixing solenoid, intake boot, and coil. It's back from the shop but I haven't pulled the string yet. I'm getting ready to go to Walt's this evening. Tomorrow is the big day, we'll see if she runs properly then.
