crap, I guess I need to start thinking about adding prep the snowblower and make sure the plow still works to the list.
I had to like your post! We are 4c/39 right now and pouring rain with a snow warning of 2-4 inches of snow through tomorrow,,,, we will see. Its nice for a change since I cant remember the last time it rained this hard. It might be my imagination but I could almost smell the rain on the forest fires close to us. Im burning some lodgepole pine right now. Hope the snow doesnt cause to many problems your way!
Im reading lots of posts about frost and people firing up their stoves... have a great burning season everyone!!
I bet you cant wait. Lots of the good firewood is found south and east of the border but we get the lower btu stuff up here. Its all relative I guess. Today is my first official overnight burn of doug fir with a bit of larch.
This makes me curious as to how many have had fires already in the stove. Think I'll start a new thread about that.
We had 37 this morning, no fire this morning but we had one last night. With the sun we had today, we won't need a fire in the morning and hopefully for the rest of the week.
Crazy weather we've been having. We were in Lake Placid NY the other day and when we had that cold snap for a week, they had enough snow on Whiteface Mountain for snowball fights.
It has been quite a roller coaster, then again it happens round here quite often, the old saying goes you don't like the weather in Michigan wait 5 minutes it will change, couple times I remember getting my motorcycle out week before Christmas and riding, something like 72 degrees. I just hope it doesn't turn cold and snow before I get all the leaves taken care of
A few years back we received about 24 inches of snow the week before Thanksgiving and the following week it was in the high 60's.
First fire tonight. A bit of spruce to take the chill out of the air. Might throw a maple split or 2 on to keep the fire going through part of the night. Feels good to have the furnace fired up again.
