IHP, I can attest the Cyberpower PFC class (1000, 1500) UPS, the new generation APC (compact) LCD Smart 1500 UPS, and the Belkin BE112230-08 12-Outlet Surge Protector strips do protect as advertised -

primary client site (day job) had a lightning strike back in August within 1000' of building - all equipment was protected, (2) businesses, on either side, had equipment damage / failure.

At home here in the "woods", if we know it's going to get really bad (has happened a few times this summer), we will shut off the [Main Breaker] and just ride it out, to protect the major appliances and submerged Well Pump / and Pump controller..

Lightning is expensive - several neighbors lost well pumps & major appliances this summer.

Good that it is compliant. I have an acquaintance that wanted a pellet stove in her sun room. Most sales people told her that because of her windows, she couldn't. Finally someone advised her to go up above the windows with the venting. She did that and now enjoys her stove in the sun room. Good luck with your new stove.

I have my two stoves on the same cyber power units. And anything of value on a surge protector. Good to know there has been some real life circumstances where they have done their job!

Well, as with a lot of you all here, stoves are getting ready for the cooler/cold weather. I have a ventless propane fireplace that came with the shack, but it never stayed lit. I had wanted it last winter as back-up heat in case the power went out during that blizzard we had (no generator)......the thing runs on 3 AA batteries!! It also has blowers that really send the heat out into the room, but obviously those won't work if the power's out.
I finally had my propane company come out to inspect/repair it. Funny, the guy who showed-up said "I've been here before", and when he saw the fireplace, said "I installed that!"....... Good to hear.
As it turned out, the ignitor was worn out, and the replacement fixed it all up. He even did a complete cleaning, added some new rock wool to give the "embers" effect, and gave the whole thing a good vacuuming.
As he went over the operation of the thing (remote control, to boot!), he said that since it's vent-less, it's 100% efficient, and I'd be better off using that to heat the shack than the 95% AFUE heater in the place. So, I'll have a nice ambiance and save some $$ too.

I did a TEST burn today to make sure everything is in working order. I let the stove run for a couple of hours to check it thoroughly. I'll probably do another one here shortly to make doubly sure all is well.

Don't know yet.....don't get the bill until next week. I know the new ignitor was about $80, and he was here a little over an hour......I'm guess it will be $150-175 total. But in my book, having a back-up heat system that will work in a power outage will be worth it. :makeitrain"

Put our chimenea together today and had our first burn. It's aluminum. Pretty nice over all. Liking the non-rust aspect of the aluminum vs. cast iron.

Really like the brown enamel on that stove, Skeeter.
