I did zero percent financing just to have the Kubota insurance. It will be payed off in April. It's nice using someone else's money for 5 yrs at the total additional cost of $12 for the recorders fee.
once paid off .. I just pay the premium Casper they called this month to renew and dad had a round bounce back off FEL and hit the hood so it has a dent.. dad OK so no big deal.. the insurance company called same day.. they said oh that's covered .. i said but hood is less than deductible.. Insurance co.. said to me.. next time it's in for service have them check x y z and will get the bill high enough to fix but no rush we put it in our notes.. I am keeping ktac for 20 bucks a month! dad and brother come by and dads getting older 76 and likes to use it and if it makes him happy 20 bucks is cheap!
Yeah, compared to using a shovel, they are beasts! But once you get used to running a full sized commercial machine (like Gasifier s previous backhoe) getting on one of these seems a bit like pizzin on a forest fire! Still awesome for around the house/farmette though!
I should have more than that on it, but it was soooo wet in the spring and early summer it was better to stay off it.
There are ag tractors and then there are ag tractors, too. My neighbor has an L series Kubota. He works in hard, and it takes it, but all the way around it is lighter built than my M series Kubota. And then I stack hay with another neighbor's JD 2355 and it makes mine feel like a lightweight toy, even though they are similar HP specs. Yet another neighbor has a newer JD industrial (yellow, don't know the model), and he has beat the snot out of it (cracked the rear casting). I'm thinking your Mahindra is between the Kubota L and M, but I have never seen them all side by side.
yup I got m series, cousin has grande l he has cab heat ac.. M will out work it.. but neighbor 115 hp JD with dual tire front and back will
Good call - looks like that is the right ballpark. Could be these are a step down in ruggedness from the larger backhoes, similar to what we see with the ag tractors. Smaller engines allow lighter frames, but hydraulics in the mix really skews that relationship. I'd also guess the backhoe on the back of the Mahindra gives it a lot more traction, which helps generate forces on the loader that wouldn't be generated in a typical ag tractor situation.
A backhoe is one of the best ballasts you can have because it is so heavy. I've some tractor that were light on the front because the back hoe is so heavy. I made a video on ballasting a tractor to show why it is important.
More tractor woes. I'm having a power issue. Thought I fixed it because of a horribly corroded positive lead end. Replaced it with a new brass end because the dealer guys are gone to training this week. Apparently not fixed. And the tractor will no longer go into low gear. I told them about this on Friday, mechanic came out that afternoon. Couldn't fix it. And they were leaving on Monday. He said they will have to take it to the shop and take the top off to get at the top of transmission. Add this to the list of other 1/2 dozen other things they have had to fix and I am one UNHAPPY owner of a new tractor! 234 hours! I knew I should have bought another Kubota! I had told a dealer I was going to buy his L45 with hydrailics up front but then decided against it because I wanted local service and Ag tires. What good is local service if they have to be servicing/fixing it all the time!
Hey Gasifier , sorry to hear about the tractor woes...understand your feelings on the matter...the expression of said feelings in the last line there seem a bit much for FHC though... (don't wanna quote it in case you want to edit)
I had them do the first big service at 50 hours like they wanted. Next one isn't until 250 if I remember right. They have been good about not charging me for anything. Covered by warranty. But holy crap. I can't get my work done.
