Neighbor called me early this morning and needed help. Boy was he right too! Seems his wife was taking the kids to school but didn't make it. About a mile from home she totaled the car. Really did a job on it. Fortunately it did not appear anyone was hurt bad but I did not see the boys. She was limping and looked pretty shook up but I'd expect her to be shook up. Him too.

I did not ask a lot of questions but just did what had to be done. Got out a heavy chain and took the tractor to the wreck. Hooked it onto the rear hydraulics to lift it then took it to his place. He made a comment when we got there that there is not a single panel on that car that is not bent. The front end is the worst. I commented that about all that is left is the tires and rims. Seems he just put the new tires on yesterday. Geeze.

I did notice that all the doors were locked. This told me she and the boys all crawled out the rear window, which had shattered. I guess the car was on the drivers side when he got there but he had it back on the tires when I got there.

As you might guess I did not even consider pictures; just got on the tractor and went to get the car out of the road. A nasty morning for sure.

Tough to be a part of that. Glad they made it out. Is this the neighbors across the street?

You probably saved them some police trouble. Although they may need an accident report for the insurance company.

Glad you could help them and you likely saved them or should say her a ticket for reckless op. I can say at least in Ohio the ins. Co. Does not need a police report.

Along with a new tractor, he picked up a police scanner...every nearby car in a ditch is an excuse to fire that baby up and come to the rescue! :salute:

Good you were there to help...sound like they were pretty darn lucky to get out of it in the condition they did.

Wow, that is frightening. I am glad you were able to help, and that your neighbor felt he could call you for help. I'm glad there were no critical injuries. Here in Maine, we have to get a police report filed if there is damage above $500, (at least the is what I last knew). From the sounds of things, I am thinking the man doesn't have collision or towing on the car. Tough spot to be in just before winter.

Good news. I saw the 2 boys last evening and they are fine. Did not see her but I had seen her at the site so she should be okay.

Your roads tend to be flat and straight. Any idea the cause?

My sister was in a car accident about a mile from home, but sadly she did not walk away from it. She was texting on her phone, went off the road, over-corrected and then flipped her car several times into the woods. The trees did not get her, but the side window did and she was killed instantly. Sad day for our family as she was only 19.
