Broke a record today over here in Buffalo...90F for a Fall day...Just had to check my wood shed which holds about 9 beefy Face Cords of wood...106F thanks to the Metal Roof...1 vent on each side for some cross breeze. Not one for this kind of heat....but glad the Wood is baking out inside the Shed...
Just drove past a firehouse, sign said 104F.........90F on the car read out. Will my wood be too dry to burn ?
I actually rotated a few face cords last week to get some more air flowing between them in anticipation of these few hot days...Hope it works...
That shed temp sure will speed up the drying. It's been hot (90's) here too and no rain for 17 days. Great time to haul this winter's wood from the stacks to the shed (before 11: AM, of course).
We keep our weather transponder in the wood shed. It runs 10 to 15 F higher than ambient. I do think the tin roof adds to a kiln effect.
Hotter than hell cutting and splitting today. Lots of breaks for a smoke and cold Pepsi. Got up to 92 F this afternoon.
No, thanks. Once the temp is over 70 F, I'm not in the woods. This weekend is supposed to be perfect though. Low 60's, sunny and dry.
Yep just got back from New York, New York today. It was in the high 80's Sat, Sun, and Mon. Got back home and it has been in the 40's. I I could not believe that weather there in New York. Better than snow or rain though. Just took a little holiday there.
