The one thing us older guys have going for us is we know how to work. I've been working weekends with younger guys and most don't know what they are doing and don't want to work. How do you get anything done while your texting?

    True that!

I would tell them straight out....you can put that phone away until the end of the work day.

What an upheaval in your life! Sorry to hear about your BIL. I am glad prayers were answered and you found something enjoyable to work at. Don't change your Avatar picture as we will always thing of you looking like that. Only a few more years and it will be true again.

Wow Butcher , it sure is a bumpy ride! Condolences on you loss.
I know how you feel. In 2012 I was slowly going broke, found out I was in a hopeless job, and trying to care for my aged father. Then on my 59th birthday, Dad died, and right after the funeral I was out pounding the pavements. Two months later I managed to land a job that a) made a helluva lot better money, b) was much easier to do, and c) was full of supportive coworkers.
In short, I was scared to death!
But here I am, finally making some headway into restocking my retirement savings, and very grateful.
I think you got a gift from your Higher Power. Good Luck!
